Musically it was a pretty good concert there were areas where there could be improvements.

Some of the good areas on the first piece were the dynamics and they were together throughout the concert for the most part. They were weak coming in on the different sections. They missed several noticeable notes and they had almost no energy in this piece. On the second piece they improved considerably they had good rhythm, tempo, notes, and energy. They were very excited by this time and this was their best piece except for one thing. They were not together at the end though but they managed to avoid any serious train wrecks. What were the songs about? The first song Court Festival was a kind of festive song for medieval/modern carnival music. You could hear the music but not feel the music. With most festive songs you picture a scene I could not easily picture anything special. The second piece Siyahamba was much like African Marching Song its notes and rhythms were similar the only thing very different was the speed I felt they went slower than we did but it was a different piece and different composer so it could be meant to be slower. The last piece Pirates Cove I think was the bands favorite they had energy went faster and this was their best piece. In Pirates Cove I could picture the pirates with their hats and firing canons and raiding ships and sailing the Caribbean this gave me a clear picture. Who were the composers? The first pieces composer was Bruce Pearson. Bruce Pearson is a world-renowned music educator, author, composer, and conductor. He made the Standard of Excellence Books. He has also had Jazz Ensembles too. The second composer is Douglas Wagner. Douglas Wagner has published 2,500 titles since 1973, including original works and arrangements for choir, Band, Orchestra, Handbell

ensemble, organ, piano, instrumental solo, and voice. Fifteen million copies of his music have been sold. The third composer is Gene Milford. Gene Milford, a native of Canton, Ohio, is a Senior Lecturer in Music Education at The University of Akron. He has received numerous commissions he writes music for band, orchestra, and ensembles. Even though I havent heard of these composers their music seems pretty good. How did the band look? They all had on the same purple collared shirts. They looked very professional and they all had their instruments up and at the correct height. The way they dressed made them look like the real deal and very good. What did I like and not like? I personally wished they would have played more music and have longer music and sections. Even my dad who doesnt know much about music said they didnt play a lot of music. What did I like? I liked the choices of music they played. They played different themes of music and it was one thing they did right. Something I noticed that I also liked was the fact that they had a lot more band players than North does which can be a good and bad thing. They have a lot more parts and it might sound better. But it could be harder to control and get them to cooperate together and get all their practice cards and get them to practice. For the size of the band I think they did very well. Overall not a bad concert it was an average no highlights but no train wrecks or people completely unprepared for one of the biggest concerts of their career if no one goes on to be a professional musician or composer or musical artist.
