IP-423 print controller. Please read this document before using the IP-423. For the details of installation procedure of printer and scanner drivers and screen font or how to use the printer, please also read IP-423 User's guide (Instruction manual).

<< Attentions and Restrictions when using IP-423 >> - Power OFF while printing/processing Do not turn off the machine while it is printing/processing as a malfunction may occur. If the power is turned off by mistake, and a malfunction occurs, turn off the machine once and then turn on again. - Connection/Disconnection of cable Do not disconnect/connect the cable while the power is ON or while sending print data. Otherwise the IP-423 failure may be caused. - Ready to Print Make the print operation when the printer icon becomes "Idle" on the main body operation panel. - Front/Back Cover When you use the Front/back blank cover insertion function, it is necessary to set the applicable paper in the tray that is specified on the Printer driver, beforehand. - Use of Centronics port and Network card at the same time It is not possible to receive print data by both Centronics port and Network card simultaneously. Use either one. - Spool setting on Printer Driver Set the Spool setting for the Printer driver to "Spool print jobs so program finishes printing faster". (Default setting: Spool print jobs so program finishes printing faster) - If you cannot get expected output, change spool data format in spool setting of printer driver from EMF (default) to RAW. The output may be improved. - Restriction on number of windows for Web utility The maximum number of windows that Web utility can display at a time is 14 windows. - When using functions provided by the IP-423 When you use the functions (such as auto layout) provided by the IP-423, set the paper size in the printer driver to the same size set in the application side. When the application has "Collate" function, if you print data by checking "Collate" box, the IP-423 functions selected by the printer driver may not work correctly. When you use functions of printer, uncheck the "Collate" box. - Automatic canceling of staple function The staple function may not work as specified depending on the combinations of print direction and paper size settings. In such a case, the papers are

output without being stapled. (Example) Original: Paper: Staple:

- Offset (alternate output) when no finisher is fitted If you select the offset function when no finisher is fitted, alternate output of the same sizes works. However, if you select the group mode at the same time, the alternate output is automatically canceled. When you want to make alternate output, select the sort mode. - Output of mixed paper sizes When you output mixed paper sizes such as A4 and A3, the top/bottom positions of image may become different for each paper size. - Time to recognize Network connection It takes about 3 minutes from the main switch ON to become ready to print via network. - Setting change from the operation panel When you change various settings of printer on the operation panel, turn OFF/ON the main switch of the main body to make the settings effective. - Font selection When you cannot print data correctly with the bitmap font (default), select "Rasters". Then the image may be output correctly. - Spool Settings When you cannot print data correctly with selection of "Print directly to the printer" on the driver screen, select "Spool print jobs so program finishes printing faster". Then the image may be output correctly. - Automatic data erase after 24 hours passed (When Hard Disk Drive (optional) is installed) In the initial setting, the scanned image and PC-FAX Rx data in designated BOXs will be deleted after 24 hours passed. (Designated BOX for Scanner : BOX No. 0001 to 9999) (Designated BOX For PC-FAX Rx : BOX No. 1000 to 1099) However, data in the fixed BOX (BOX No. 0000) will not be deleted. When using designated BOX for PC-FAX Rx, Konica recommends that you set the ScanDataAutoDel. to OFF. * Password print data is also deleted at the same timing. <Windows95/98> - Microsoft - Imaging Image printed with Imaging may be output with reverse tone. When this occurs, specify "Negative" output on the PCL driver screen. Then the image may be output correctly. - Microsoft - Excel In Excel, when text input in a connected cell extends over two pages, texts displayed in the Print Preview may disappear in the actual print. When this occurs, select "Raster" mode on the PCL driver screen. Then the image may be output correctly. << Attentions and restrictions when using Scanner driver >> - Operation while scanner driver is in operation While the scanner driver is in operation and data is being read from a

specified scanner, it is not possible to read another data by specifying the same scanner from other PC. - Limitation to synchronous access from the same PC Access to scanner from one PC is limited to with one application. (Multiple starting of Scanner driver in one PC is not possible.) - Application with which several page reading is not available In an application which cannot read several page document, only the first page is read even if you scan several sets of originals and select [Page range] [All]. - Insufficient free space of drive where is specified for [Scanned document temporary storing] When there is not enough free space in the drive where is specified for the [Scanned document temporary storing], the document cannot be read normally. Specify drive which has enough free space. - When driver screen is displayed, exit the driver before exiting the application. - The driver dialog, error message, etc. may appear behind the application and then you cannot make the operation. When this occurs, select the driver screen by using the task bar, or press Alt and TAB key to move the driver screen to the front and then operate. - Depending on the scanning image conditions, resolution and application combination, the scanned image may not be read in the application. In this case, changing the scanning image conditions partially may enable the image reading. - Scan job display limit The maximum number of scan job that can be displayed is 250 jobs per box number. - Connection to multiple PCs at the same time Maximum five PCs can be connected to the IP-423 at the same time. <WindowsNT4.0> - Microsoft Imaging Scanner function is not available due to restriction in the application. <WindowsNT4.0/2000> - Corel DRAW Ver.8 An error may occur after image reading is ended. When this occurs, apply Revision B batch of Corel DRAW. << Attentions and restrictions when using PC-FAX >> - When transmitting images in different resolution When transmitting multiple sheets of spreadsheet such as MS-Excel in one transmission, the transmission resolution of the first sheet setting is applied to the whole transmission. Accordingly, if different resolution is set for other sheet in the transmission, the fax image may not be correctly transmitted. When sending multiple sheets in one transmission, please set the common resolution. - In PC-FAX mode, if a job is cancelled on the screen that is displayed just before data transmission, error message of the application may be

displayed, however, it is not necessary to follow the message. - Adobe Photoshop PC-FAX function is not available due to restriction in the application. << Attentions and restriction on password print >> - Password when using printer EKC. When printer EKC is set for main body, the user ID used for password print becomes common password for printer EKC.
