SCOPE AND DESCRIPTION This calculation covers the roof structure design of KLIA2 Domestic Pier (S1) and International Pier (S3) of project titled PROPOSED DEVEOPMENT OF KLIA2 AND ASSOCIATED WORKS AT KL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KLIA), SEPANG, SELNGOR DARUL EHSAN. PACKAGE : STEEL STRUCTURAL WORKS CONTRACT NO:MAHB/PCD/C/LCCT/42/2010 The roof structure basically is steel members supported by RC column. All steel members are designed manually and using STAAD.Pro software as per attachment.

CODE OF PRACTICE AND STANDARD The design shall follow: BS5950-1:2000: Structural Use of Steelwork in Building British Standard Code of Practice: CP3: Chapter V: Part 2: 1972 Uniform Building Code 1997: Chapter 16 Structural Design Requirements.

MATERIALS

3.1 Design Strength of Steel Member Universal beam, S275 Universal circular and square hollow section, S275 Purlin, cold formed, galvanized, high tensile Z-purlin, minimum yield strength of 450 MPa. 3.2 Design Strength of Connection Grade 8.8 bolts Base and connection plate, S275 Anchor bolt, High tensile deformed bar, 460 N/m

DESIGN LOADS 4.1 4.2 4.3 Dead Load Self-weight for each steel member Live Load For metal roof=0.25kN/m Superimposed Dead Load For metal roof=0.40kN/m For M&E services and ceiling=1.00kN/m Horizontal Dead Load 0.5% of the total characteristic dead load and live load acting at the respective level at ultimate limit state. Wind Load Design wind speeds derived from the 50-year 3-s wind speed (Vb) is 35m/s at 10m height over open terrain. Seismic Load Zone 1 in UBC 1997 is considered. Temperature Load The variation in temperatures of internal steelwork, 15C is considered.

- Characteristic Dead Load - Characteristic Live Load/Imposed Load - Characteristic Wind Load/National Load - Temperature Effect - Seismic Load

Notes: 1) As in the Staad.Pro model do not include the vertical element during the seismis analysis, modification had been done on the dead load factor in order to considered the vertical load effect in the analysis. In this regards, load factor for dead load (DL) is to add and reduce 6% in the load combination which involved seismis load as shown below: Case 4 (i): 0.96DL+1.0EL+1.2TL Case 4 (ii): 0.84DL+1.0EL+1.2TL Case 6 (i): 1.26DL+1.0LL+1.0EL+1.2TL Case 6 (ii): 1.14DL+1.0LL+1.0EL+1.2TL
