ABSTRACT

This small scale descriptive study was conducted as a partial fulfillment of the
requirement for bachelor of nursing program at carpet factories of the Balkumari,
Lalitpur among 60 respondents. The main purpose of the study was to assess the
knowledge on sexually transmitted infection among the workers of carpet factory.
Purposive sampling technique was used for data collection. The time period of this
study was 5 weeks, structured and close ended questionnaires were developed based
on related literature and objectives. Purposive sampling technique was used to collect
data.

To get information confidentially, structured questionnaire interview technique was


used. Collected data were analyzed by using of simple statistics such as percentage,
frequency and mean score. In this study, total 10 questions were knowledge related
questions.

The study hypothesized that literate workers will have more knowledge than illiterate
workers and the second hypothesis was the male respondents will have more
knowledge than female respondents.

The findings of the study showed that the mean knowledge score of literate workers
was 8.37 and the mean knowledge score of illiterate workers was 5.5. The literate
respondents were significantly more knowledgeable than illiterate workers. The mean
knowledge score of male was 8.39 and mean knowledge score of female was 5.25.
The male respondents were more knowledgeable than female respondents.
