Ageing
Increasing age of the UK workforce Important to maintain health, productivity and quality of working life Need to promote a healthy working environment

Trends and Statistics

BMW Programme
set up a test production line staffed by workers over 47 workers came up with 70 load-easing changes, form a wooden floor that dampened pounding, to cushioned shoes, tilted screens with bigger lettering, tools with a lower gripping force, height-adjustable work benches, work rotation mid-shift after one year, the line was as productive as lines with people 10 years younger...

Statement I feel my age has made me less physically active at work than I used to be I feel more tired now due to my job then I did when I was younger I find learning new skills, and technologies more difficult now than when I was younger My productivity and capacity to do my job has declined as I have got older I feel that I am not as capable as I was when I was younger at learning or retraining
