EDITORS LETTER
Welcome Summer! Oh yeah, weve been waiting for this all year & its finally upon us...the official start of summer. For the next few months well be in our glory, hopefully being able to take some time to relax & have a little fun in the warmth of the summer sun. With the gas prices down quite a bit from earlier this year, more folks are now able to plan some road trips & are getting out to enjoy more things. When it comes to finding things to do this summer, our calendar is packed with all sorts of fantastic rides & events that will take you to some of the most beautiful areas of the Mid-Atlantic. From picturesque mountain views to the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coastline, the destinations for an adventurous summer are endless. Its kind of crazy how mid way through each year, the patriots seem to come out of the woodwork & patriotism starts shifting into high gear for many people starting with Rolling Thunder in May, then Flag Day in June & it peaks for our nations birthday on July 4th. For some reason, it seems to calm down for a few months then its back up in November for Veterans Day. I do know a lot of people who are true patriots all through the year flying their flags on their bikes, houses & cars. Some of them wear flag pins or patriotic shirts throughout the year too.shoot,, they dont consider themselves fully dressed without a flag somewhere on them. I may be crazy but I was just wondering if any of you have noticed that too & ever wondered where does that patriot go the other 8 months out of the year??? Weve got some great stuff to share with you this monthin addition to all the exciting event ads, weve got plenty of businesses that here with us to let you all know that they are here for you. Even though we put this magazine together, the advertisers are the ones who help us put this copy of Thunder Roads in your hands each month of the year. We sure do appreciate them & hope that youll stop by their shops to say hellomost of them ride too so they know exactly what you need. Wed like to invite you to keep sending those pictures in.DONT BE SHY! We want folks to know whats been going, where you all have been, what kind of bike you ride & do tell us the stories of your adventureswe welcome articles anytime. Pictures are wanted for HOT SHOTS, HOT PLATES (personalized license plates) & BIKER PALS (pets who like to ride) along with articles of trips, tips or adventures. My email addresses are always on our staff page (across from this one) so send as many & as often as youd like. Well look forward to featuring your good times in an upcoming issue! Remember that you are the Director of your own lifethere are no dress rehearsals or do oversyou only get one shot at it so make every day a good day We want you to know that you all are very special to uswe wouldnt be here without our readers. Thanks for rolling with us! Heres wishing you Peace, Love & Happiness everyday. Until we meet again next monthBe Safe! Happy Trails

GOOD FOR YOU

Watermelon
Summertime picnic menus are filled with plenty of good eating but when it comes to something sweet, refreshing & just plain delicious in the hot summer sun, there is only one word that comes to mind.WATERMELON! Watermelon is usually thought to be watery, sugary, and lack real nutritional value. Im here to tell you thats far from the truth. Watermelon is very cleansing, alkalinizing, diuretic and mineralizing. Its a very clean foodexcellent for flushing out the kidney and bladder, taking out waste materials. And because the juice is easily digestible your body easily absorbs for all its minerals and nutrients. Watermelon is loaded with antioxidantsnamely Vitamin C and Awhich fight off free radicals, prevents cell damage, and inhibits cancer or abnormal cell growth. Watermelon is also incredibly high in the two phytochemicals beta-carotene and lycopene (even more than tomatoes!). This combination prevents heart disease, prevents asthma, helps arthritis, prevents arteriosclerosis, and lowers the risk of many forms of cancer (including prostate, lung, colon, and bladder). The rind of the watermelon is even better with tons of minerals and chlorophyll. So try to incorporate the rind into your recipes/juices if you can.

Proud To Be AN AMERICAN
Flag Day

People across the United States celebrate Flag Day on June 14 each year to honor the United States flag and to commemorate the flags adoption. Many people honor this day by displaying the American flag at home and on public buildings. Organizations such as The National Flag Day Foundation are actively involved in coordinating activities centered on the event and keeping the flags traditions alive. The Flag Code, which formalizes and unifies the traditional ways in which we give respect to the flag, also contains specific instructions on how the flag is not to be used.

May 30, 2012 Governor McDonnell Announces New Virginia Veterans ID Card
RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today launched the new Virginia Veterans ID Card available from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in partnership with the Department of Veterans Services (DVS) during an afternoon event at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond. The card will help thousands of Virginia veterans identify themselves as veterans and obtain retail and restaurant discounts around the state. The DMV 2 Go mobile office was present to process veterans applications for the cards onsite this afternoon. Governor McDonnell, a U.S. Army veteran who served for a total of 21 years in active duty and reserve roles, visited the mobile office at todays event and was one of the first to apply for the new ID card. Speaking about the launch of the Virginia Veterans ID Card, Governor McDonnell said, Virginia is home to 823,000 veterans who have protected and served our great nation. It is Virginias duty to serve them. The launch of the Virginia Veterans ID card will provide a new state resource to aid in obtaining discounts and other services from the Commonwealths retail community, as well as providing convenient identification for Veterans. This initiative is a perfect example of state agencies working together to assist those individuals who have served and sacrificed for our great nation. We take seriously our responsibility to provide resources and support to our veterans. This is an important step towards reaching our goal of making Virginia the most Veteran friendly state in the nation. Currently, retired military and veterans with a service-connected disability rating from the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs are issued ID cards. These men and women comprise just a fraction of the states veteran population. The remainder of Virginias 823,000 veterans have no way to show veteran status other than by presenting their discharge documents. The new Virginia Veterans ID Card is convenient and fits in a wallet, cutting down on Veterans having to carry the DD 214 military discharge document as identification. Paul Galanti, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, added, Retailers and restaurants across the state offer discounts and other special promotions to veterans and military, especially around Memorial Day and Veterans Day. This is a winning situation for both veterans and retailers. Veterans may apply for the cards in person at any DMV customer service center, DMV 2 Go mobile office, or online at http://www.dmvnow.com/. Each applicant needs to present an unexpired Virginia drivers license or DMV-issued ID card, the veterans ID card application, his or her DD214, DD 256 or WD AGO document, and $10. The card, which does not expire, will be mailed to the veteran and should arrive within a week. In the meantime, the temporary veterans ID card received at the time of the in-person application can be used as proof of veteran status. DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb stated, We are proud to partner with the Department of Veterans Services to further Governor McDonnells vision for more veteran-friendly programs in the Commonwealth. Most Virginians interact with DMV, whether through our website or by visiting a customer service center. And when they do, we hope Virginias veterans take advantage of this convenient unique service for them.

CONGRESS TO CONSIDER MOTORCYCLE-ONLY CHECKPOINTS In Congressional action on the federal highway bill, a conference committee has been named to consolidate the House-passed bill H.R.4348 and Senate bill S.1813. Language to prohibit federal funding of MotorcycleOnly Roadside Checkpoints is contained in H.R.7, and riders are encouraged to contact their congressional members to urge the conference committee to adopt that wording into the final measure. LEGAL BATTLE CONTINUES AGAINST MOTORCYCLE ROADBLOCKS Although the first round in the battle that the law firm of Proner & Proner is waging on behalf of motorcyclists to prevent the New York State Police and other agencies from conducting motorcycle-only checkpoints was won by the police, A.I.M. (Aid to Injured Motorcyclists) Attorney Mitchell Proner believes the judges ruling overlooked the evidence that motorcyclists were targeted for reasons other than safety. The challenged checkpoints were set up in proximity to well known motorcycle events. Motorcyclists traveling to those events were forced off the roadway by the police, regardless of any individualized suspicion, and compelled to undergo inspections. Although the inspections were termed safety inspections, the majority of tickets issued at the checkpoints were for violations unrelated to safety and the prevention of motorcycle accidents. The attorneys of Proner and Proner are appealing the District Court decision to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. On March 21, 2012, Mitch Proner filed a lengthy brief arguing that the checkpoints clearly constitute an unreasonable search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment. Oral argument will probably take place this fall with a decision soon thereafter. Proner has vowed to take the fight all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. As a rider himself and a trial lawyer, Proner is intent on defending the rights of all riders who are being unfairly targeted. Our right to be free from unreasonable seizures was a gift from our founding fathers which must be defended regardless of personal cost. SENATOR KLOBUCHAR HONORED FOR PROTECTING RIDERS RIGHTS Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar has been awarded the Motorcycle Industry Council Chairmans Award for her invaluable efforts in stopping the ban on youth ATVs and dirt bikes, and for saving the Recreational Trails Program. For more than two years, the powersports industry was banned from selling youth sized ATVs, motorcycles and snowmobiles, inadvertently swept up in comprehensive legislation known as the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act -- a law intended to protect children from harmful lead content in toys. When our industry needed a champion, Senator Klobuchar rose to the occasion, worked with her

colleagues, and led the effort to ensure that youth ATVs, motorcycles and snowmobiles were excluded from the law, said MIC chairman Larry Little. Minnesota manufacturer Polaris hosted the award presentation and the companys president and CEO Bennett J. Morgan also recognized Klobuchar for her work on a critical amendment to the transportation reauthorization legislation known as the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act. Klobuchar, a first-term democrat elected in 2006, also introduced an amendment that sought to restore the Recreational Trails Program, which benefits outdoor recreation including snowmobiling, ATV riding, off-road motorcycling and other off OHV use. PENNSYLVANIA PROPOSAL WOULD MANDATE SAFETY COURSES FOR YOUNG RIDERS A bill aimed at increasing the safety of young motorcycle riders has passed in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives 181-1 and is on its way to the Senate. The legislation sponsored by Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover Township) would require anyone seeking a Class M (motorcycle) junior drivers license to complete a free state-approved 15-hour safety course. The course gives younger riders good fundamentals, Grove said. Anyone under 18 would have to take the course, which highlights areas such as drinking and driving, defensive driving, and proper motorcycle techniques. Experience counts when it comes to motorcycle safety, Grove said. Operating a motorcycle is very different than driving a car, and my goal is to increase the safety and awareness of Pennsylvanias young motorcyclists. Also under Groves bill, riders on a class M learners permit and under the age of 18 must complete 65 hours of practical driving and have held the learners permit for six months before they can take the junior license exam. Currently, riders have to pass a test in order to get a riders permit, which is valid for one year, and then pass a driving test to get a motorcycle license. A course, called the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program, is optional but is not required. If a rider takes and passes the course, they automatically receive a class M license. KANSAS LEGISLATURE STREAMLINES MOTORCYCLE LICENSURE Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has approved a measure to allow class M motorcycle license applicants who have successfully completed prior motorcycle safety training in accordance with Department of Defense instruction 6055.04 (DoDI 6055.04) to receive their license without completing further written and driving testing. House Bill 2459 was sponsored by Rep. Tom Sloan (R-Lawrence), and was signed into law by Gov. Brownback on March 21, 2012.

PERMANENT MOTORCYCLE WARNING SIGNS INSTALLED ACROSS U.S. To kick off National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, Watch for Motorcycles signs are being donated and installed by Allstate Insurance to help prevent motorcycle crashes at intersections. Currently, there is no standard sign for motorcycle awareness, and Allstate aims to standardize warning signs for motorcycle safety to target dangerous intersections in more than 30 cities across the country this year. The yellow, diamond-shaped signs were developed by Allstate as part of its Once is Never Enough program, an awareness campaign that encourages people to look twice for motorcycles at intersections. The permanently installed signs caution motorists to Watch for Motorcycles at intersections, which is where most multivehicle collisions occur for riders. The signs were designed to establish a standardized warning device that can be used by any local or state agency and would be recognizable to riders and motorists across the country. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 46% of all multi-vehicle crashes occur at intersections, oftentimes as a result of a vehicle turning left, impeding the motorcyclists right-of-way. DIXIE ABATE PROMOTES SAFETY & AWARENESS Alabama riders gathered on April 28 for a police-escorted high-profile ride to the state capitol at high noon to promote May as Motorcycle Awareness Month; This ride should give us publicity to advertise to the driving public that they need to work harder to be aware of us as we share the road with them this season, read an official statement from Dixie ABATE, one of the newest members of the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM). I want to emphasize to drivers of cars and trucks that GOOD DRIVERS JUST DRIVE, Vickie Rumble of Dixie ABATE told WSFA-12 News. Our goal is to completely eliminate motorcycle crashes, whatever their cause. After the rally, Harley-Davidson of Montgomery graciously offered riders a complimentary lunch, and the Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham offered them discounted admissions. Dixie ABATE petitioned the NCOM Board of Directors for membership and was approved unanimously during the recent NCOM Convention in Indianapolis over Mothers Day weekend. NCOM proudly welcomes Dixie ABATE as our newest NCOM Member Group, joining in unity with more than 2,000 other rider groups, clubs and organizations; including Motorcycle Rights Organizations (MROs) from nearly 40 States, and 57 Confederations of Clubs from 36 States and three Canadian Provinces. WEIRD NEWS: MAN SUES BMW FOR GIVING HIM A HARD TIME While an extended state of arousal after a motorcycle ride might sound like typical rhetoric of the two wheel crowd, one man is now suing BMW Motorrad USA and the maker of an aftermarket seat after a motorcycle ride left him with an erection that wouldnt go away. The California man is claiming that a BMW motorcycle and a dealer installed custom seat are responsible for causing priapism -- which thanks to TV advertisements for erectile dysfunction we now know is an erection lasting four hours or longer. According to an excerpt from the complaint; Plaintiff was riding his 1993 BMW motorcycle equipped with a Corbin-Pacific seat. The ride lasted approximately two hours each way to plaintiffs destination, after which plaintiff developed a severe case of priapism. Plaintiff alleges that this condition was caused by the ridge-like seat on his motorcycle, negligently designed, manufactured and/or installed by defendants. The suit filed in the Superior Court of San Francisco County seeks damages for lost wages, personal injury, medical expenses, product liability, and negligent infliction of emotional distress. HELMET LAW VIOLATORS WILL BE SHOT A remote village in Zamboanga City in the Philippines, which is trying to promote eco-tourism, has banned motorcycle riders from wearing a full-face helmet and warned that violators will be shot. A huge tarpaulin sign now hangs on the entrance of Lumayang, and the new village law has attracted strong criticism from various sectors because of its extreme warning. Frederick Atilano, the village chieftain, insists the new law will make their 1,600 residents safe from hired killers, who usually ride tandem on motorcycles and wear full face helmets to conceal their identity. This is for the safety of our people against killers. We are banning the use of full face helmets in Lumayang because we wanted to protect the safety of everyone. Motorcycle riders who insist on entering Lumayang with their full face helmet will be shot, he told the Mindanao Examiner, adding that they also put up a checkpoint in the village to ensure the implementation of his order. Lawyer Aminola Abaton, the regional director of the Land Transportation Office for Western Mindanao, said Chief Atilanos order to ban the use of helmets violates the Republic Act No. 10054, also known as the Motorcycle Helmet Act law which was signed in March 2010 and is centered on the very safety of the motorcycle riders and the law must at all times be complied with. Abaton said according to the helmet law, any person caught not wearing the standard protective motorcycle helmet will be punished with a fine of P1,500 for the first offense; P3,000 for the second offense; P5,000 for the third offense, and P10,000 and confiscation of the drivers license for the fourth and succeeding offenses. Ah, summertime is upon us. I hope that you have been enjoying the open roads this year. As I was riding late one night along a dark winding road while enjoying the cool night breeze against my face I couldnt help but wonder as I looked up ahead, trying to see what was ahead in the darkness beyond the reach of my headlights. I was reminded of the importance of these relatively inexpensive lights in comparison to the rest of my Road King, for without them I would have a difficult, if not impossible, time navigating my way along this dark, twisting, road. As we travel along the highway of life we will ride in both darkness and light. There are times when everything is good, and times when things are downright difficult to handle. But through it all, we must continue to travel on. In good times, the ride is always easy, but what about those dark times? Well, that is why we have headlights, to make our path visible for us to continue on. The Bible speaks of Christ as being The Light. Proverbs 3:5-7 tells us to trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will direct your paths. We are assured that no matter what is going on around us God will guide us at all times. He will lead you on the clearest, brightest, days, and when we are plunged into darkness we can count on God to be the headlight piercing the darkness and directing us as we continue along. Jesus can bring light into any situation. Be sure to trust Gods direction. Put your faith in Him as you travel along lifes highways and byways and be assured that He will light your path and direct you in all your ways. I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldnt bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket. Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog. A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. It was that snake, with two more frogs. A little old lady went to the grocery store to buy cat food. She picked up four cans and took them to the check-out counter. The girl at the cash register said, Im sorry, but we cannot sell you cat food without proof that you have a cat. A lot of old people buy cat food to eat, and the management wants proof that you are buying the cat food for your cat. The little old lady went home, picked up her cat and brought it back to the store. They sold her the cat food. The next day, she tried to buy two cans of dog food. Again the cashier said Im sorry, but we cant sell you dog food without proof that you have a dog. A lot of old people buy dog food to eat, but the management wants proof that you are buying the dog food for your dog. So she went home and brought in her dog. She then was able to buy the dog food. The next day she brought in a box with a hole in the lid. The little old lady asked the cashier to stick her finger in the hole. The cashier said, No, you might have a snake in there. The little old lady assured her that there was nothing in the box that would harm her. So the cashier put her finger into the box and quickly pulled it out. She said to the little old lady, That smells like shit! The little old lady said, It is. I want to buy a 12 pack of toilet paper. Just trying to reassure the management. A burglar broke into a house one night. He shone his flashlight around, looking for valuables, and when he picked up a Blu-ray player to place in his sack, a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying Jesus is watching you. He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight out and froze. When he heard nothing more after a bit, he shook his head, clicked the light back on and began searching for more valuables. Just as he pulled the Bose out so

he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard, Jesus is watching you. Freaked out, he shone his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. Did you say that? he hissed at the parrot. ... Yep, the parrot confessed, Im just trying to warn you. The burglar relaxed. Warn me, huh? Who the hell are you? Moses, replied the bird. Moses the burglar laughed. What kind of stupid people would name a parrot Moses? Probably the same kind of people that would name an ass-eating Rottweiler Jesus, the parrot replied. Ten Thoughts to Ponder Number 10 - Life is sexually transmitted. Number 9 - Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. Number 8 - Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich! Number 7 - Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they wont bother you for weeks. Number 6 - Some people are like a Slinky.....not really good for anything, but you still cant help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs. Number 5 - Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing. Number 4 - All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism. Number 3 - Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents? Number 2 - In the 60s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal. AND THE NUMBER 1 THOUGHT FOR 2012: We know exactly where one cow with mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America but we havent got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

The American Rumble Returns To Williamsburg

The sound of American motorcycles and the sound of Freedom are returning to Williamsburg on June 21-23, 2012 with the Virginia State Harley Owners Group Rally, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Motorcyclists from across this great land and countries from around the globe will call Williamsburg home for 3 days and possibly more. As was noted so many years ago on these same shores, We come in peace, and for the Virginia State Harley Owners Group Rally we also come to spend money. When the state rally was held in Williamsburg in 2007 the riders poured more than $2.2 million into the local community. Although most events will occur at the hotel, we also have events scheduled at New Town and a Parade of Flags for Saturday morning that runs from the Jamestown Settlement and ends at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The parade of flags will showcase riders from the Harley Owners Group chapters who proudly fly the flag that represents their city and state. This event will be police-escorted and provide Williamsburg and James City County a unique opportunity to view millions of dollars of American pride traveling together! During this week and always, we ask for your vigilance to ensure the safety of all motorists and we will be courteous and respectful in turn. When you get that many motorcycles in an area with so many tourist opportunities, it tends to be a little crowded. We welcome you to stop any of us and ask us anything about our hobby. For us, Harley-Davidson is a lifestyle all its own and we really love to share. Thank you, residents of Williamsburg, James City County and all the surrounding communities, for the hospitality you showed us in 2007 and what we know will be shown again this year. Feel free to fly the American flag in support as most of us are active or retired military. We also love to see you flying a banner that reads Welcome Bikers! Trust me, it works! If you have any questions at all you may reach me at the number or email below. Thanks again and I hope to meet you personally, Mark W. HELMET REFORM FOR VIRGINIA IN 2013

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that we are signing an agreement with Future Law today to handle the lobbying efforts for helmet reform for Virginia in 2013. We will begin our efforts as of this June 1. The cost is going to be $6,000 per month to push this effort. Come General Assembly time in January we will need another $24,000. This is a lot of money but top notch representation at the legislature is expensive. However, without it we will not be able to pass a bill through the General Assembly on this issue. That is why our firm is committed to match up to $25,000. Now the bad news. To date we have received $1,050. Some of you have contacted me about doing a fund raiser in the fall and any fundraiser will be helpful. However, we need contributions now. The time to act is now. It has been suggested that every person find ten motorcyclists that you know and collect $10.00. If everyone on this list did that we would raise about $40,000. I hate asking for donations for VCOM but without it our chances of success are much diminished. We know motorcyclists can raise money. We do it all the time for charities. We now need to do it for ourselves. I would ask that donations be made out to the following: Virginia Coalition of Motorcyclists PO Box 4851 Richmond, VA 23220 Make sure that you include the contact information of the contributor. Also make sure that you indicate that the money is for helmet reform. VCOM has contributors who do not believe in helmet reform and out of respect we will not use their contributions in this effort. I want to again point out that his is an investment without a guarantee. We may all put our time effort and money into this and still come up short on votes. That is a chance that we must be willing to take if we are going to stop complaining about Virginias mandatory helmet law and do something about it. I will also again say that after seeing how motorcyclists have come together for the past few years there is not a group of people I would rather engage in this fight with than you. helmetS (NOT) required

Are you in on this? The time is now! If not now, when? The Virginia Coalition of Motorcyclists, ABATE of Virginia, motorcycle clubs, other organizations and individual riders are working for repeal in 2013 of the mandatory helmet law and were starting now. If you want to be part of this, now is the time to get involved, lend a hand and make a contribution... We are asking riders across the state to help contribute to a fund for a team of professional lobbyists who will meet with our legislators this year and lay the groundwork for next years proposed bill. The Law Offices of McGrath & Danielson will match all contributions up to $25,000. The lobbyists goal will be to convince legislators that we are able to take responsibility for our actions, make decisions for ourselves and experience the same freedom of the road and freedom of choice as the majority of riders across the rest of the United States. Send your contribution to: VCOM PO BOX 4851 RICHMOND, VA 23220 Please provide your contact information and note that this is for helmet law reform (HLR) to keep it separate from other VCOM funds.

Cooler Corn
You need a clean, Coleman cooler, shucked ears of corn & 2 large pots of boiling water. Place corn in bottom of cooler. Pour boiling water into cooler, enough to cover the corn & close the lid. Open the lid in 30 minutes & youll find your corn perfectly cooked. The corn should remain at the perfect level of doneness for a couple of hours. (This was passed to us from one of our readers & it sounded like a great idea but try at your own risk. We plan on checking it out ourselves)

K.I.S.S. page composed & edited by: Toni McCoy Shearon of Tennessee

This is my birthday month, so this page will pay homage to just some of my all-time comfort foods. GRILLED PEANUT BUTTER & MARSHMALLOW MELT 2 Thick Slices of Either Sour Dough Bread, Potato Bread or French Bread Quality Brand of Peanut Butter; smooth or w/ nuts Quality Brand of Marshmallow Creme A cast iron skillet works best when grilling any sandwich. Take real butter and spread generously and thoroughly both sides of each side of slices. Turn onto counter and then spread really generously one side with marshmallow creme and the other with quality peanut butter. Slap together and you may need to scrape some butter off of counter and re-apply to outer sides. Your skillet should be hot, but only medium hot. But it should definitely be heating up while youre preparing skillet because you want that sizzle when you put sandwich down. Throw in a pat of butter to coat the bottom of skillet evenly. Gently place sandwich in and DO NOTTOUCH IT. This is essential. If you push or tug at it youre just tearing the bread and ruining that golden brown caramelizing that occurs. So, just let it go and keep watch on it......after about 2 minutes, gently lift a corner with a spatula and if it all appears to be a gorgeous golden brown, then hold the sandwich up in the air on spatula, take your other hand and add another pat of butter, let it melt outwards, then flip the sandwich over and in the pan to grill the other side Take it out of pan, place on a plate and just let cool for 1 full minute before cutting as it lets the sandwich rest, just as meat needs to and all the juices blend together beautifully. OMG! I was making this sandwich when I was 7 years old, by myself, and it was and always will be one of my Top 5 Sammies. *Note: If you dont use a cast iron pan, then youll probably need a weight while grilling. Just use a really heavy lid that is apprx. the size of your sandwich. Something like a porcelain coated cast iron lid or, like .R.R. does, wrap a brick in aluminum foil. As with anything else in life, whatever it takes to make it all come together makes the end result even better. REALLY SIMPLE & FAST CHILI CONQUESO DIP 1 Bottle of Walmarts Brand of Conqueso Cheese (found by the chips aisle) 1 Can of No-Bean Chili

1 Can of Ro-Tel (brand name) Original Style Canned Tomatoes With Green Chilies *These can be found in any grocery store in the USA (Be sure & drain off liquid) 1/2 Bottle of Chopped Pimentos Mix all together in a ceramic or glass bowl; cover with Glad Press N Seal (leave small corner pulled back slightly to vent) Nuke for apprx. 3 minutes and stir well when done. Eat w/ your fave chips. Our preference is those super crispy Tostidos Scoops. Olay! CARROT CAKE CUPCAKES WITH BUTTER CREAM FROSTING 1 Pkg. of Betty Crockers Super Moist Carrot Cake Mix 2 Tubs of Betty Crocker Buttercream Frosting 1/2 Cup of Dark Raisins 1/2 Cup of Chopped, Roasted Walnuts 1/2 Cup of Pure Pineapple Juice Just prepare mix as directed, adding in the raisins, walnuts and pineapple juice. Spray a pan with butter spray and mediumchop walnuts. Sprinkle them really heavy with cinnamon. Place in preheated 350 degree oven. When pull from oven dump directly into mix, give it a little mix up and spoon mix into muffin liners in a cupcake pan. The mix should make apprx. 24 cupcakes. I always remove the wrappers so its easier to just dig in. Cool them completely on a wire rack and I get 2 tubs of the Buttercream frosting because I am excessive about frosting and lets face it, if youre going to blow it out and make your own cupcakes, then gorge on them, you might as well go all out. Like Paula Deen says, everything in moderation. I chose Sundays a long time ago and I dont go crazy, but Sunday is my day to eat my fave food without the guilt. You have to reward yourself for eating so damn goodie-goodie all week long. At least, thats how I justify it. Happy Birthday to all you Aries RamHeads. Oh yeah, were stubborn as mules but also highly romantic, passionate & loyal. We love bikers because they have all those qualities no matter what sign they are. Love yall toni & brian
