Have been working with one of the biggest European commercial vehicles manufacturers in formulating their India strategy. They had entered India in 2006 with an Indian partner and wanted to review their situation in India with regards to their current strategy. We suggested them whether they should be continuing with their current legal form and also suggested the required distribution structure / set up they should be having in India including manpower pyramid to number od dealership locations (2s/3s). Also based on a product in their global portfolio we have done its benchmarking with relevant Indian products and suggested them if it is feasible for them to launch the product in the Indian market and what is the level of customization they will have to undertake.

Have been responsible for getting leads from 4 leading OEMs pertaining to the commercial vehicles and passenger cars domain in the areas of strategy consulting and sourcing. Have been responsible for generating a lead from the biggest industry association of India with regards to a study on specialty chemicals opportunity in India.

Leading global tractor manufacturer who has stake in one of the tractor manufacturing companies in India and wants to decide whether to exit the JV or buyout his stake to convert the JV into its subsidiary. Global leader of High Tensile Fasteners wants to develop an India entry strategy for which he requires help in the areas of assessing Indian High Tensile Fasteners market for passenger cars and commercial vehicles and its potential for the company in India, whether the company should set up manufacturing operations in India or set up a warehouse, location at which the company should do so and the key areas for the company to focus to succeed in the Indian market. Global leader of premium cars who wants to review the target customer list and evaluate if they are losing out on competition as they are missing out on any customer group or is there some problem with their product portfolio in India. Also they would want to know whether to enter tier II and tier III cities and which city to target first.

Estimate demand for fuel injections for various automobile categories for a leading global fuel injection manufacturer. Estimate demand for various categories of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles for a leading global engine manufacturer. The assignment for a leading India Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer involved rigorous demand and econometric modeling for projection of tipper sales for the current year and a span of next five years. The sales had to be based on application of tippers as well as various macro-economic parameters. The assignment for a leading global tyre manufacturer involved state-wise demand forecasting of tyres for Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles. They wanted to know the existing mix of radial and bias tyres and how the same would shape out five years down the line. The assignment for a leading Indian passenger car manufacturer involved rigorous demand and econometric modeling for projection of state-wise passenger car sales for the current year and a span of next five years. The assignment for a leading AMC involves industry interaction with transporters across all cities of India to know the regional dynamics of freight availability, freight movement & freight rates derivation. Also linkages of the same with the macroeconomic environment and hence demand for the automobile industry.

Customised Research: Logistics


Report for a leading logistics player who wanted to set up ICDs (Inland Container Depots) at various locations in India and also wanted to run private container trains on various routes across India. I carried out a project feasibility analysis for the routes as well as ICD's set up. Also a commodity profile of commodities containerised and containerisable using rail transport was done for the same. A detailed projection for a span of ten years was given to the client. Prepared a report on Indian Logistics industry which covers freight movement across modes (road, rail, coastal & pipelines) and infrastructure (warehouses, CFS/ICD & cold storages) segments. I have looked at the current state of the logistics industry & based on various macroeconomic parameters & interactions with various industry participants given a five year outlook on the same. I have also looked at the Third Party Logistics Industry in India & its future potential after analyzing the deterrents of the same in various end user industries. Report for a leading global logistics player who wanted to take some stake in a leading CFS/ICD player. I had prepared a report on the size of CFS/ICD industry in India. I had plotted the player against its competitors and had arrived at the relative position of the player vis-a-vis its competitors. A syndicated report for infrastructure and logistics players where we had done a traffic assessment of route-wise and commodity-wise movement on 21 major routes and 7 major commodities across India. Also we had assessed varying parameters in details which had lead us to the conclusion for project ting the outlook for the same over the next 5 years.
