Our world was blessed with Gale Rene Spears on September 15, 1960 in Chicago, IL the first child

of Sherry Jo Bridgewater and step-daughter of Eugene Spears, Sr. Gale spent her early childhood in Chicago attending parochial schools until the premature death of both her father and mother in 1972. Gale and her siblings, Kim and Eugene (Geno) were relocated to Lawton, OK where they were loved, nurtured and guided by their Grandparents Ora and Rosilee Bridgewater. Gale accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Catherine of Sienna in Chicago, IL. Her maturation in faith was later reinforced by her grandparents regularly attending as active members of Barnett AME Chapel in Lawton, OK where she re- dedicated her life to Christ through Baptism. Gale was active within the church participating in the Youth Choir and Youth Usher Board. Gale attended and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1978. She made her presence known during her years at Eisenhower serving as a member of the Cheerleader Squad, Track & Field Varsity and voted as the Homecoming Queen breaking barriers crowning her as the first African American Homecoming Queen. Upon graduation from Eisenhower, Gale attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK putting herself through school on various scholarships earned and working full time. It was the late summer of 1982 in Lawton, OK when Gale was introduced by her sister Kim to 2LT David D. (Dino) Harris, JR. Like a true Gale force wind, she swept Dino off his feet. On August 9, 1984 Gale and Dino were wed in Copenhagen, Denmark and the holy matrimony blessed at St. Philip Episcopal Church in Washington, DC. While in Europe Gale gave birth to their only child, David D. Harris, III. A wonderful, loving, caring Mother always engaged in his schooling, athletics and teaching him how to be a solid young man. Gale was also the consummate Army Officer Wife assuming the role seamlessly being the rock of support for the many soldiers and spouses led by her husband. Much of her time was spent modeling and in runway fashion shows to raise funds for the morale and welfare support of the soldiers. Following multiple moves between Europe, Oklahoma and alas Ft. Hood, TX, Gale continued her unwavering support of the family transitioning into corporate America. In all she endured 14 moves each time immediately making the new location a warm inviting home open to all. During her professional career Gale was a Manager and Assistant Divisional Manager for the Limited Group, Branch Manager and Loan Officer for the Financial Resources Federal Credit Union. When Gale is described by those who have had the pleasure of meeting her they speak of her loving spirit and unselfish nature. Whether you were around her for minutes or years you walked away feeling just as special. To no surprise she enjoyed entertaining family and friends during holidays no matter which one; often times spending weeks ahead in preparation to ensure it was special for all those who attended. Hard to get her to sit and take in the event as she moved around relentlessly to ensure you were comfortable and thoroughly enjoying the precious time together. Today is our day to say Thank You for finding room in your heart for all of us each and every day. You always brought the sun wherever you traveled. Gales wonderful memories will be cherished by her loving husband of 27 years David Dino Harris, JR, devoted son David III, devoted sister Kim Gates and brother Eugene Geno Spears, nieces Lauren Ashlee, Shelbi, GiAnni Aries, Ilana, nephew Emmanuel, Aunt Ora, Aunt Wilma and Aunt Rosilyn, In-Laws Dave, Theresa, Keith, Kim, Erik and a host of loving cousins and dear friends.
