Indie Un-Film (IUF): Back to Basics 2012, an annual interschool digital film competition produced and conceptualized by the Green Media Group (GMG) of De La Salle University with the support of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), will be holding its awards night at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium situated in De La Salle University Manila. IUF provides a creative avenue for student filmmakers where they can showcase their works to a wider audience and earn bona fide recognition under the categories, Music Video, Experimental, Feature and Documentary. With Back to Basics as the chosen theme for its 9th year, GMG aims for IUF 2012 to endorse the need of local films to rethink their goals and orientation. Founded in the year 2003 by Nikki Lanas and Kristine Villanueva, IUFs primary goal has and always will be to promote creativity and the independent film genre among the youth. The Green Media Group, being DLSUs premiere student based production group and fervent promoters of film- the said project serves both as an act of service and a challenge. It aims not only to showcase budding talents but to also heighten the awareness of the public to talented young film makers and the relevant messages each participating film will reflect. One of the highlights of IUF, setting aside the authentic and creative minds of the men and women behind the camera, is, of course, its judges for this years competition. The judges are composed of Mike Sandejas- the writer, producer and director to the award winning movie, Dinig Sana Kita which won Best Original Music Score, Audience Choice Award and National Council of Children's Television Award in Cinemalaya 2009, Grand Prix-Deaf Cinema from Brussels International Film Festival and the Presidential Jury Award For Film Excellence from the 8th Gawad Tanglaw. The second judge is Pepe Diokno, director to the infamous Engkwentro which was awarded as the Best Picture (Orrizonti Price), Lion of the Future (Luigi de Laurentiis) Award for Debut Film in the 2009 Venice Film Festival, Best Asian Film, Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema Prize in the 2010 Jeonju International Film Festival and Best Editing in the prestigious Gawad Urian Awards. His first feature length film, 100, won Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Audience Choice Award for the 2008 Cinemalaya. It also won 2008 Pusan Film Festival Audience Award.
