What is DiALTA? DiALTA is a combination of digital intelligence and lealta, which is Italian for accurate. Its our nickname for the Minolta Di Series. These copiers are engineered with a combination of our exclusive digital and CS (Customer Satisfaction) Technology, thereby creating a new CS philosophy.

Dynamic Functions with High-Level Digital Technology

Larger Memory Means Higher Productivity and Greater Versatility.
Minoltas unique image compression technology and standard 16MB memory give the Di520 the ability to memorize 200 sheets of originals at once. And if you add the optional 16MB or the Hard Disk Drive Kit, that number can be expanded to either 400 sheets or 500 sheets, respectively. Given its total memory capacity, the Di520 has the ability to give you a level of productivity and versatility that can only be obtained through digital technology.

Non-Stack, Automatic Duplex Copying

Efficient usage of the stored memory allows for the non-stack method with the Duplex Copying function. The copier will recall the needed memorized document according to needs such as reversing the sheet or following the circulation pattern. This increases your duplex copying efficiency. Added efficiency is also gained when you need to make large numbers of duplex copies. Now that stacking is not required, reliability of the copier has increased.

Multi-Job Function (optional)

By mounting the optional Hard Disk Drive Kit, the Di520 can handle five tasks at a time. You can double your efficiency by scanning one document while another is being printed.

6,550 Sheet Paper Feed Capacity 2LD Printhead
With the newly developed 2LD Printhead, two laser beams perform the printing at the same time. Therefore, you get a high copy speed of 52 copies/min. The main body of the Di520 accepts an ample 3,550 sheets of paper. This includes two 500-sheet and one 2,500-sheet paper cassette trays, as well as a 50-sheet Multiple Sheet Bypass for 4-way loading. 5way loading is also possible with the optional Large Capacity Cassette C-304 or C-304L. As a result, a total of 6,550 sheets can be stacked.

90 Image Rotation
The Di520 comes equipped with 90o Image Rotation, which rotates the image 90o and sends copy paper through in a crosswise direction. Should you unintentionally set an A4 original lengthwise, or need to reduce an A3 size original to A4 size, the Di520 will copy onto A4 size sheets in crosswise format. This helps maximize the copiers top speed of 52 copies/min.

Imagine being able to make a copy without the original. With the Di520, you can. After you make a copy, the data of the original is stored until a new document is scanned. Should you require another copy after the original has been removed, simply touch the Memory Recall Function and hit the start key. You can even change the number of copies and their size, or the bookbinding style.

s 2 in 1 / 4 in 1 Copying
The Di520 allows you to reduce paper consumption by reducing the original to copy a two- or four-page original onto a single sheet of paper. A four-page A4 original, for example, can be copied onto a single A4 sheet. Our Automatic Duplex Copying function lets you accomplish two-sided, 2 in 1 or 4 in 1 Copying.

There are Several Environmental Problems now Causing Damage on a Global Scale. These Include: Destruction of the Ozone Layer
The ozone layer protects living things by absorbing the sun's harmful rays. Chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs, are believed to be a major cause of this layer's destruction. CFCs are widely used as refrigerants, as foaming agents, within sprays, and for cleaning electronic components. Without successful countermeasures, the quantity of harmful ultraviolet rays reaching the earth's surface will double, resulting in increases in skin cancer and cataracts.

Acid Rain
The combustion of fossil fuels releases sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, which then fall as strongly acidic rain. This acid rain kills fish, withers forests and damages buildings. In Europe, where acid rain is especially severe, treaties have been concluded and the reduction of sulfur and nitrogen emissions is under way.

REDUCTIONS IN WILD ANIMAL SPECIES

Global Warming
Human activities are increasing the concentration of heat trapping gases in the earth's atmosphere. It is feared that the earth's surface temperature will quickly increase as a result. If these "greenhouse" gases continue to be emitted at past rates, it is believed that the average temperature of the earth's surface will increase by 1.5C to 3.5C. This increase will lead to the melting of the polar ice caps, which in turn will cause sea levels to rise.

REDUCTIONS IN TROPICAL RAINFORESTS CROSS-BORDER MOVEMENT OF TOXIC WASTES

All these problems are inter-related, with one compounding the other.

Oceanic Pollution
Oceans also suffer from a variety of pollution problems: Waste materials dumped in the past are now being widely detected. Red and blue algae tides that thrive on waste water pollution are increasing in scale. Floating waste has become an obstacle to ship navigation. Sea creatures and birds mistake this waste for food and die after eating it. There are numerous oil slicks along the world's major oil tanker routes. The protection and conservation of the oceanic environment is being regulated through an international treaty.

Cross-Border Movement of Toxic Wastes

The quantity and complexity of waste has increased. New disposal sites are being sought, and as a result, wastes are being transported over long distances. Toxic wastes produced in developed countries are being transported across borders to developing countries, where the wastes have caused environmental pollution. International treaties are being implemented to monitor the transport, import and export of toxic wastes.

Reductions in Wild Animal Species

Today, the rate at which species are brought to extinction by human activity is faster than at any time since history was first recorded. The number of animal species has been reduced by damage and destruction of animal living environments, indiscriminate fishing and hunting, the effects of intruding or migrating species, reductions in sources of food for animals, and human killing of animals considered harmful to agriculture and livestock. International organizations and nongovernmental organizationsNGOs are working to establish and implement international treaties.

Taking the Initiative in Environmental Protection

In 1990, Minolta established the Environmental Policy Committeenow Environmental Board a high-level group reporting directly to the Company's board of directors, , and began drafting the Minolta Environmental Charter. Because of the great priority we are placing on these goals and the high levels of motivation and cooperation among individual employees, we are confident that we will continue to make important contributions to society by pioneering effective new environmental protection initiatives.

Reductions In Tropical Rainforests

Forests play a major role in storing rainwater, absorbing CO2, and generating oxygen. Tropical rainforests in particular are home to half of the world's animal species and produce more than half of the earth's oxygen. Slash-and-burn cultivation, conversion of forests to agricultural use, overgrazing, inappropriate mining and logging activities and forest fires are all causing deforestation at an alarming rate. The destruction of tropical rainforests will severely affect the lives of people in developing regions and bring about the loss of forest cultures and the extinction of animal species.

Desertification
Desertification is the reduction in the ability of a region to sustain and reproduce life. Typical causes include climate changes and human activities. Today's studies are now focusing attention on overgrazing, overcultivation and the excessive gathering of firewood and charcoal. The effects of desertification include an impaired ability to produce food. Agencies in individual countries are working together to prevent desertification.
