Successful Opening: After having to wait an extra day to play their first game, the CrackerJacks squeaked by the DuPage Hounds, 6-5. The Jacks defeated the Chicago Zephyrs last year on opening day, making them 2-0 on opening day in their brief history. This Looks Familiar: Scott Hull, who was fifth in batting average last season as an outfielder for the CrackerJacks, started at first base against the Hounds, was the lead-off hitter, and went three for four (.750 batting average), with one run, one RBI, one walk and two stolen bases. Hull also hit lead-off in the opening game last year, and went two for four (.500 batting average), with one run and three RBI. Power Surge: The Liners picked up their first win last night against the Rockford Foresters with an impressive display of the bats, winning 7-5. Outfielder Christian Vandetti sent both of his hits out of the park and picked up five RBI. Through the first two games, Vandetti is the only player in the MCL with a home run so far and leads the league in RBI with six. Tonights Pitching: The 6-4, 215 lbs. Ben Gullo of Eastern Kentucky will be starting the game for the CrackerJacks. Manager Vern Hasty plans on getting a good look at all of his pitchers in the first couple games, and its likely that Jack Rogalla of Binghamton and Michael Oczypok of Alabama will see action tonight. Both Rogalla and Oczypok warmed up at different points in the bullpen of last nights victory, but did not see action. Mike Grindstaff of Northern Illinois is the only other active pitcher who didnt appear in last nights game. On The Road Again: The CrackerJacks are the visiting team yet again tonight, as this is the second of their scheduled ten game road trip to start the season. They will head back to Founders Field (home of the Liners) for two more games on June 9 and June 11.
