Remedy Picture- Complete Guide to Bach Remedies Practice by Dr. D.V. Krishnamoorty. RESCUE REMEDY [Rescue]
FOR ALL INJURIES, FATAL KNOCKS ETC. A homoeopath in Delhi started using flower remedies. His residence-cum-clinic was on one of the main high-ways of the city and the area in front of his house was prone to accidents daily. From that spot the name board of the doctor was quite visible as he has put up the biggest board among the doctors there, and, therefore, whenever a person got involved in an accident he would be brought to him mostly in an unconscious state. On three such occasions, the doctor used to give two pills of RESCUE REMEDY and in a minute or so the astonishment of the bystanders the unconscious person would get up as if nothing had happened and ask Where am I? He would walk home without any aid. In all serious accidents it is no wonder RESCUE REMEDY comes in handy as a great help Through the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BACH PRACTITIONERS we are approaching the Red Cross and other Relief Organisation with a request to give a fair trial to at least this remedy in war-fronts. But conductors and drivers will do well to carry it in their pockets. RESCUE REMEDY NOT A PANACEA FOR EMERGENCIES While learning the condition in which this remedy is useful, It is first of all necessary to learn where this remedy is not useful. As the name implies, this is useful in cases of emergency, but at the same time a word of caution is also necessary. While it is unquestionably useful and has saved many lives it must not be assumed that it is a panacea for emergencies. Reports have been received by us from various practitioners that a piteously crying child calmed down after a dose of RESCUE REMEDY or that a high fever was cured in with a few doses of RESCUE REMEDY. But weeping and high fever may point to a remedy other than the five remedies contained in RESCUE REMEDY; in such cases RESCUE REMEDY may not help. What we want to say is that since it is name RESCUE REMEDY it must not be taken for granted, that it will rescue all cases of emergency. In the case of accidents and traumas, the symptoms of STAR OF BETHELGHEM (shock), CHERRY PLUM (unbearable pain), IMPATIENS (restlessness), ROCK ROSE (great fear), etc. are invariably presents.) That is why it helps. But we did come across where, after a dose or two of RESCUE REMEDY, one patient blamed a person for leaving on the road a long rusted nail on which he had stepped; WILLOW alone cured him. We have one advantage and equally one disadvantage in the use of flower remedies. Advantage: It makes the case clear so that selection of the of correct remedy becomes easy. Disadvantage: Suppose a wrong remedy has been given and it makes the symptoms clear and practitioner is, for some reason, not able to spot the correct remedy. RESCUE REMEDY will aggravate the patients condition. What we want to stress here is that it is the symptoms of the patient decide the remedy and routinism has no place in the practice either of Dr. Bach Remedies or of Homoeopathy. If RESCUE REMEDY does not help in a serious or emergency case, it should not be concluded that flower remedies are not useful in all cases or the remedy used was not genuine. We should look carefully for a remedy corresponding to the symptoms thrown by the patient. Don't simply prescribe RESCUE REMEDY t.d.s. and remain content that it will cure. For burns and scalds by hot liquids, etc. We advise CHERRY PLUM alone in preference to RESCUE REMEDY because, though there is shock etc. the symptom Unbearable pain for which he is prepared to do anything is foremost and prominent

in all cases of burns and scalds. So, after observing the patient we give CHERRY PLUM alone. RESCUE REMEDY too contains CHERRY PLUM among the five ingredients and it (RESCUE REMEDY) will also relieve. But the use of one remedy at a time preferable for greater effect. Research Notes on the use of Flower Remedies. What if we mix all the thirty-eight remedies and give such a mixture to all patients? The answer is that the less the number of remedies, the greater the effect. If life is so simply of remedies, as to cure all patients with a mixture of the thirty- eight remedies then where is the interest for further studies. A person with a chronic disease who had been cured with a months treatment is not so much happy as the one who got cure after failure by several doctors. Moreover be it homoeopathy (S.118 & 119 read with its foot note of the organon) or Flower Remedies, the totality of the symptoms of a patient at a particular time corresponds to one remedy only and not more than one. Two or three remedies may be necessary to cure a patient, rather to complete the cure; but this does not mean simultaneous use of more than one remedy. If the symptoms change after giving a remedy, we have of course, to change it and so, on till patient is cured. Suppose a patient needs SCLERANTHUS, but the symptoms are not clear enough. As we are unable to decide on one among the three oviz., OLIVE, WHITE CHESTNUT, and SCLERANTHUS, we give the medicines mixed together. There will be some changes in the patient (we don't say that the mixture will not act): the clearness of his SCLERANTHUS symptom will grow finger the greater number of times the mixture of three (or even a wrong remedy) is repeated. Double Phenomena There are certain states where the patient seems to exhibit the symptoms of two remedies at the same time. But close examination will reveal that they actually point to one remedy only. E.g. Itching changes place on scratching. Let us examine this symptom. We find symptom in two homoeopathic remedies mainly, viz., Mez. and Staph. In the former remedy (Mez) the itching is more prominent (in flower remedies CHERRY PLUM or CARB APPLE); in staphysagria changes place on scratching (the equivalent flower remedy is WHITE CHESTNUT or SCLERANTHUS WHITE CHESTNUT for constancy or SCLERANTHUS for changeableness) is prominent. Now how to decide on the remedy. We have to examine the particular patient and attentively listen to the very words issuing from his mouth. suppose he says If feel as if only by removing that if only I can get rid or it or what an itch? etc. then CRAB APPLE is indicated. If the itching is unbearable then CHERRY PLUM. Suppose he says what is this strange nuisance! I scratch here; then it starts itching there; when I scratch there, I get it at yet another place (shifting or changing place) In this case, the stress is on the shifting nature of the complaint. This points to SCLERANTHUS. Supposing he is tormented by the constancy of the complaint (itching ) he needs WITHE CHESTNUT. In some cases he may say If only I can get rid of this itch. This is not CRAB APPLE. Don't confound this symptom with CRAB APPLE. It is not any unwanted growth such as say, a pimple but the feeling of itching for with he needs WHITE CHESTNUT. Therefore irrespective of the itching how the patient reacts to it is more important. Let us now go closer to the issue the double phenomenon or when apparently symptoms for two remedies seems to be present. An interesting example (as already explained between SCLERANTHUS and CHERRY PLUM in the case of one more bottle drunkard in the chapter ADVANCED PRACTICE OF LOWER REMEDIES in the second months lessons) is that of frequent urination for which WHITE CHESTNUT is a useful medicine. Let us now examine another case of frequent urination where superficially it will point to WHITE CHESTNUT whereas in fact he needs SCLERANTHUS. Every time the urge comes I don't immediately go to the toilet to empty the bleeder. I have in-fighting in my mid between the thoughts whether to go to the toilet now or after some minutes; then I say not now. But after a few moments the same thing happened again. Shall I go now? No, I shall go after a while It is a case of constant postponing which points to SCLERANTHUS. After a dose of remedy, the urge disappears or no goes and passes the urine if the urge is genuine. SCLERANTHUS and WHITE CHESTNUT bear similarity; while the former is CONSTANTLY POSTPONING the letter is CONSTANTLY THINKING of it. Though constancy is found in both the remedies constantly postponing is in SCLERANTHUS only.
