THE MUSICAL BIRD OLEH : TUNKU MOHANI TUNKU MOKHTAR It was a hot afternoon.

Zamri had just returned from school. He dropped his school bag on the floor. He took out his flute and started playing. Zamri, is that you? He heard his mother calling. Yes mother, Im home. Zamri was a good boy. He obeyed his mother. He did his homework ailigently. When it was cool he went out of shady tree and play his flute. Zamri! Zamri! he heard someone calling him. Oh! Its you Aznin. What are you doing with that net? asked Zamri. Im going to catch birds. Would you like to come with me? asked Aznin. No replied Zamri, Id rather play my flute. So Aznin went off to catch birds. Zamri went on playing his flute. As he was playing he saw a pretty bird on another tree. It had a yellow breast and blue wings.Zamri stopped playing. Youre lucky, you know,If you had been here earlier Aznin might have caught you. The next day Zamri sat under the same tree and played his flute. After sometime he saw the pretty bird again. This time it had perched on a branch above Zamris head. It seemed to like Zamris music. Zamri continued to play his flute. That night Zamri throught of the bird. He was thinking of the bird when he fell asleep. He dreamed that it became his friend. It followed him everywhere. It flew about freely in the house.Zamris mother was disturbed by the bird away from the kitchen. Zamri, Zamri, he heard his mother call. Zamri, get up. Youll be late for school. Oh, it was a dream, thought Zamri. But his mothers call was real. This evening Zamri went to his usual spot. He played his flute. Zamri merily played the flute. The bird seemed to enjoy the music. It chirped. Suddenly he heard a sound like something hitting the leaves. He look up. He saw Chirpy flying away. He look around him. He saw Aznin. Aznin. Did you try to shoot my bird? Yes Idid. I took a shot at it my catapult. Why do you want to harm it? Zamri enquired. Why do you shoot

stones at it? So that it wont be able to fly away. Then I can catch it easily answered Aznin. Youre very cruel, Aznin. The bird wont be able to fly about. Let it go, Zamri cried. He got up and pushed Aznin down. He then lifted up the net and freed the bird. Aznin got up and hit Zamri. You let my bird escape. Aznin shouted. You horrible boy. Early the next morning he woke up thinking of his bird. In the evening he went on playing his flute. He waited for a long, long time. Then he saw Chirpy. It was chiriping. But its chirp was different this time. It was rather noisy. Chirpy was fluttering its wings and hopping aroung on the grass. Zamri wondered why Chirpy was doing this. Perhaps it want me to follow it. Thought Zamri. Zamri followed it. Now he was sure Chirpy wanted him to follow it. Zamri heard someone crying. He kept on walking. The bird led to on old well. There was no water in it. He heard the cry again. It was loudly this time. He look down the well and saw Aznin. Aznin! he shouted. How did you get down there? Zamri. help me, cried Aznin, I fell into the well. I was running after that bird but I tripped and fell into the well. Get me out of here. Im scared. All right, Ill go and get help, said Zamri. Zamri ran home and told his father what had happened. Then they went to Aznin house and informed Aznins father. Aznins father took a coil of rope and they all went to the old well. Aznins father tied one end of the rope to a tree and threw the other end into the well.then he went down and got his son. Zamri and his father help them out. When they were out of the well. Aznin thanked zamri for his help. Dont thank me, said Zamri, You should thank Chirpy. He was the one who led me here. Yes I know, said Aznin. Aznin, said Zamri, You must not catch Chirpy. See how he has help you. All right, I promise not catch Chirpy or any bird again. I know what its like to be in cage. Its prison. I was down there for nearly three hours!. Boys, said Aznins father, you must let your parents know where you go next time. They all agreed. Its getting dark, said Zamris father. Let go home before we lose our way.

1. Zamri had just returned from school. After done the homework, Zamri took out his flute and started to play the flute.

2. Suddenly Zamri heard someone is calling him, apparently Aznin. Then Aznin was invited Zamri to catch the bird, however Zamri is rejected.

3. That night Zamri dreamed that the bird became his friend.

4. The next evening, Zamri went to his usual spot and played his flute. Zamri is waiting for the bird to its place he playing a flute. However the bird did not appear.

5. Aznin has fallen into old wells when to catch the bird. He cannot emerged from within the well. Aznin is crying and asking for help.

6. Normally zamri is waiting the arrival of the bird.While playing a flute. Then he saw a bird fly like this. Zamri guess there is not anything happening. Zamri go towards the bird and heard the sound of someone crying. Zamri see Aznin has been dropped into thewell.

7. Zamri ran home to ask for help to remove Aznin from the well. Zamri told his father and Aznin father. Zamri and his father help them out from the well.

8. Aznin thank to zamri and his father for having helped him out of the wells. Aznin promise not to catch the bird agains.

REFLECTION

Firstly, I would like to thank to our almighty God because I finally fisished doing this assignment. The assignment is quite tough to me because I not really good in English. But as a student, I have to take it as aresponsible and make sure that this Coursework and give the positif impack in my study. I face a lot of problem in doing this assignment. The first problem Im not understand the grammer content in English to give me information for this assignment. So to counter this problem , I searched a few information and asked my lecturer to show my articles. Besides that, I also had problem with time. I had struggled very hard to manage my time to make sure I do not wast my time. I had changed my daily schedule a little bit to give a time to do this assignment. So I really happy because I can manage my time very well in order to finished this assignment. Lastly, I hope my assignment can be the best among the best. Thank you.
