Schedule of Classes & Catalogue Activity

Find the following information in your college catalog. Fill out the information in the attached chart. 1. Degree Audit a. Count the number of degrees total in your discipline. b. Count the number of state-approved certificates total in your discipline. c. List the courses that are required for a certificate on the Course of Study Worksheet. Check off the Certificate box in that row. List each class only once. 2. AA/AS Audit a. Find the general studies AA/AS plan in your catalog. b. Look for classes in your discipline that satisfy a GE AA area. c. List the courses that satisfy a GE AA/AS area on the Course of Study Worksheet. Check off the AA/S box in that row. List each class only once. If the class is already listed under the Degree audit, simply add a check to the AA/S box in that row. 3. General Education Audit a. How many courses in your discipline satisfy a CSU GE or IGETC area? To find this out: i. Go to www.assist.org ii. Select your institution. iii. Select CSU transferrable under Courses Applicable for Transfer. iv. Select your department. b. List the courses that satisfy a CSU GE or IGETC area on the Course of Study Worksheet. Check off the CSU box or the UC box as appropriate. List each class only once. If the class is already listed under the Degree audit, simply add a check to the CSU or UC box in that row.

2. How many courses are you offering of the courses that satisfy more than one pathway? 4. What are the courses in your discipline that contribute to the greatest number of pathways? Reflections 1. Are you offering any courses that do not satisfy a CSU GE or IGETC area? If so, how many?

3. Now look at your schedule of classes. Are you offering a sufficient number of the courses that satisfy for 2 or 3 requirements? Why or why not?

5. Are any of the classes above listed as gatekeeper courses? If so, which ones? 6. How many of the certificates are stackable? 7. How do students get this information? Who do they depend on to get this information? 2

8. How can we better communicate this information to students to help them get through a pathway efficiently? 9. What questions do you have about your pathways? What can you go back to your institution to find out? 10. Have you identified any gaps that need to be addressed? Have you found any strengths?

11. Given what Priya presented and what youve discussed in this activity, are there any questions you want to raise or have answered about student pathways at your institution? What other information would you like to have in order to answer your questions?
