Padma Wave 2: Optimized Collection Management for the field force through provisioning of customer credit data
with Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions [COIL Bangalore, December 2011]
"Collections-to-Bank" is often not a smooth ride. Lack of adequate real-time information to your field collection agents results in an unpredictable and delayed cash flow from your last mile customers. The MYCMobile solution optimizes and improves the collection cycle in accounts receivable management. The application provides the collection agents online access to the SAP system on the field, for updating and reporting through their mobile devices. MYCMobile solution empowers your field collection agents by providing information on the fly with just a mobile phone. MobileMYC mobile application is a device-independent, online application built in the Padma program using Sybase SUP 2.0. Click here to read more about the project.

The selected companies had a three days SUP Bootcamp, and eight weeks of remote access to an exclusive COIL landscape for building the prototype. During the prototyping phase (October and November) partners had low touch support via the SAP Collaboration Workspace and continuos weekly follow-up calls. All partners were invited to an internal event on the 23rd November where they could show the results of their participation on this initiative and present live their prototype to a SAP audience (E&C, Pre-sales, Sales,

SIGGA SM2 leverages the plant maintenance functionality of the SAP ERP application, mobilizing workers in the field, and enabling them to perform all inspection and maintenance activities directly from their mobile devices, allowing the manipulation of information from/to SAP ERP. Driving forces were the accuracy of the data entries from the field workers, to improved communication between the planner team and the work force in the field, as well as to provide a more user-friendly interface. SIGGA SM2 can be used by mobile workers of SAP solutions in all industry segments. Through its involvement with the SAP Co-Innovation Lab So Paulo, SIGGA has fully migrated their solution to the Sybase Unwired Platform, following the concept of the Co-Innovation Architecture. COIL supported these efforts through architectural guidance, best practices input following SAP's development guidelines, and the provisioning of an SAP solution-based landscape to prototype the integration with SAP applications, all along a close interaction with SAPs Mobility unit. SAP NetWeaver Mobile and Sybase Unwired Platform Integration development and testing war room
with Sybase [COIL Palo Alto, August 2010]
SAP and Sybase have received excellent feedback on the overall architecture of the integrated SAP NetWeaver Mobile and Sybase Unwired Platform solution. COIL supported a few workshops in rolling out the solution to our partners. In the meantime, the team identified a few key areas to complete the end-to-end solution. The development teams from both companies once again worked at COIL in a war room environment to address these enhancements, leading focal points include Lifecycle management, Operations, Edge Cases, Performance and Supportability, and reduction of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Results of the COIL work have been baked in the roadmap of the integrated solution. For further information see: More details on the Sybase experience at COIL.

ES2ME - A Framework for direct SAP Enterprise Service calls from mobile devices
with Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University [COIL Walldorf, April 2010]
Direct calls to SAP Enterprise Services from a mobile device are a challenge. This is primarily due to the limited support of Web Service standards on the respective devices and the complex structures of SAP Enterprise Services. As part of a COIL research project, a framework was built, that enables direct consumption of an SAP Enterprise Service from any mobile device with J2ME and http support. The calls can be performed without the use of a middleware and the Enterprise Service does not need to be adapted in the back-end. The framework consists of two parts. Part one is a tool that adapts the service definition for the development environment of the mobile application. Based on this adapted service definition the client application can be built. The second part is a mapping library that acts as a dynamic mediator between the modified service definition and the actual service at runtime. For further information you can view a video that demonstrates the use of the framework with a RIM Blackberry device or you can visit Bettina Ziegler's blog on the topic.
