Alright, in this paper I will explain two part of sociolinguistics lesson that has a relationship with my real life.

And here they are:

1. Lingua francas
A lingua franca is a language used for communication between people whose first language differ (Sociolinguistics book page 87, second paragraph) From the statement that I took from the book we can see that lingua franca is a little bit the same as a language that is used by two people when they dont have the same native language then they find then they use a language that can deliver them to make them easy to understand. For example: I got this example from my cousin; his name is (Arman Ridwansyah Harefa), he is a Niha (Nias). But he knows nothing about Niha language because of born in Medan. So one day, he went to Niha Island his father hometown. So one day he was lost ant there, he ask to an old woman but she cannot speak Indonesia. So they become confuse each other until accidentally my cousin said oalah piye iki in Javanese language because he knows a little bit about Javanese language. Then suddenly the old woman spoke in Javanese language. Then after that they spoke in Javanese although still a little confuse. In fact, the old woman ever has a Javanese friend pastime when she was still a kid. Her friend moved from java so he can teach her Javanese a little. In this case, Javanese language become the lingua franca of my cousin and the old woman because Javanese language save them from the confusing of didnt know each other.

2. Social dialect
Dialect are simply linguistic varieties which are distinguishable in vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation; the speech of people from different social, as well as regional, groups may differ in these way (Sociolinguistics book page 143 social dialects part line 2) From the statement I took from the book, in a simple way we can say that dialect is how is the style of people in speaking. And in here, I would like to give an explanation that social dialects can influence a person language. What I mean is when a person lives in a place that is being in the middle of two or maybe three kind of environment that has different dialect, there must be also a changing of the person language. For example: When I was in the middle of my ten years old, I move to the place that has many Javanese. But, we have about 3 India families. And they can speak India fluently. Because of that, their Indonesia has India accent style. And us, our family actually, actually we are Javanese, but my family didnt know deeply about Javanese. Because of my friends at school were Javanese all, so I can speak Javanese well too. Then what happen when I spoke to the India? I use Javanese accent all the time in speaking Indonesia. Then I was influenced also by their India accent. So I have a strange accent because I mix Javanese accent with India accent. In this case, the Javanese and India accent influenced my language so I have a strange accent.
