    DeclarationoftheOccupationofNewYorkCity Aswegathertogetherinsolidaritytoexpressafeelingofmassinjustice,wemustnotlosesightof whatbroughtustogether.Wewritesothatallpeoplewhofeelwrongedbythecorporateforcesofthe worldcanknowthatweareyourallies. Asonepeople,united,weacknowledgethereality:thatthefutureofthehumanracerequiresthe cooperationofitsmembers;thatoursystemmustprotectourrights,anduponcorruptionofthat system,itisuptotheindividualstoprotecttheirownrights,andthoseoftheirneighbors;thata democraticgovernmentderivesitsjustpowerfromthepeople,butcorporationsdonotseekconsentto extractwealthfromthepeopleandtheEarth;andthatnotruedemocracyisattainablewhenthe processisdeterminedbyeconomicpower.Wecometoyouatatimewhencorporations,whichplace profitoverpeople,selfinterestoverjustice,andoppressionoverequality,runourgovernments.We havepeaceablyassembledhere,asisourright,toletthesefactsbeknown. Theyhavetakenourhousesthroughanillegalforeclosureprocess,despitenothavingtheoriginal mortgage.

    Theyhavetakenbailoutsfromtaxpayerswithimpunity,andcontinuetogiveExecutivesexorbitant bonuses. Theyhaveperpetuatedinequalityanddiscriminationintheworkplacebasedonage,thecolorofone's skin,sex,genderidentityandsexualorientation. Theyhavepoisonedthefoodsupplythroughnegligence,andunderminedthefarmingsystem throughmonopolization. Theyhaveprofitedoffofthetorture,confinement,andcrueltreatmentofcountlessnonhuman animals,andactivelyhidethesepractices. Theyhavecontinuouslysoughttostripemployeesoftherighttonegotiateforbetterpayandsafer workingconditions. Theyhaveheldstudentshostagewithtensofthousandsofdollarsofdebtoneducation,whichisitself ahumanright. Theyhaveconsistentlyoutsourcedlaborandusedthatoutsourcingasleveragetocutworkers healthcareandpay. Theyhaveinfluencedthecourtstoachievethesamerightsaspeople,withnoneoftheculpabilityor responsibility. Theyhavespentmillionsofdollarsonlegalteamsthatlookforwaystogetthemoutofcontractsin regardstohealthinsurance. Theyhavesoldourprivacyasacommodity.

    Theyhaveusedthemilitaryandpoliceforcetopreventfreedomofthepress. Theyhavedeliberatelydeclinedtorecallfaultyproductsendangeringlivesinpursuitofprofit. Theydetermineeconomicpolicy,despitethecatastrophicfailurestheirpolicieshaveproducedand continuetoproduce. Theyhavedonatedlargesumsofmoneytopoliticianssupposedtoberegulatingthem. Theycontinuetoblockalternateformsofenergytokeepusdependentonoil. Theycontinuetoblockgenericformsofmedicinethatcouldsavepeopleslivesinordertoprotect investmentsthathavealreadyturnedasubstantiveprofit. Theyhavepurposelycoveredupoilspills,accidents,faultybookkeeping,andinactiveingredientsin pursuitofprofit. Theypurposefullykeeppeoplemisinformedandfearfulthroughtheircontrolofthemedia. Theyhaveacceptedprivatecontractstomurderprisonersevenwhenpresentedwithseriousdoubts abouttheirguilt. Theyhaveperpetuatedcolonialismathomeandabroad. Theyhaveparticipatedinthetortureandmurderofinnocentciviliansoverseas. Theycontinuetocreateweaponsofmassdestructioninordertoreceivegovernmentcontracts.* Tothepeopleoftheworld, We,theNewYorkCityGeneralAssemblyoccupyingWallStreetinLibertySquare,urgeyoutoassert yourpower. Exerciseyourrighttopeaceablyassemble;occupypublicspace;createaprocesstoaddressthe problemsweface,andgeneratesolutionsaccessibletoeveryone.
