user647737: The DCOM user they are referring to would be the account you want to be used to access the processes, most likely your user account name information or a service account that has been specially created for the application. If this is a test environment for you to learn the application, I would say just use your account credentials. Assign appropriate privileges for the DCOM User: Verify DCOM user has the proper Local User permissions: Open Local Users and Groups Applet: Start >Run lusrmgr.msc Click Groups Double-click Administrators Click Add Enter USERACCOUNT (meaning the name of your user account or whichever one you decide to use)

Click Check Names Click OK Click Apply Click OK Close Local Users and Groups Applet Repeat on all servers Verify DCOM user has the proper Local Policy permissions: Open Local Security Settings Applet: Start >Run secpol.msc Navigate: Local Policies >User Rights Assignments Double-Click Act as Part of Operating System Click Add User or Group Enter USERACCOUNT Click Check Names Click OK Click Apply Click OK Repeat Above Steps for Bypass Traverse Checking Repeat Above Steps for Log on as Batch Job Repeat Above Steps for Log on as a Service Close Local Security Settings Applet Repeat on all servers Verify DCOM user has the proper DCOM permissions: Open Component Services Applet: Start >Run DCOMcnfg Expand Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config Right-click on HsvDataSource click Properties Select Identity tab *Note To confirm proper authentication, It is suggested that you click browse and select the user rather than typing it in. Select this user User: USERACCOUNT Password: make sure you get it right, DCOM does not verify for you! Select Security tab Under Launch and Activation Permissions select Customize Click Edit Click Add Enter ANONYMOUS LOGON; Everyone Click Check Names Click OK Give Both Users All Available Permissions Click OK Under Access Permissions select customize Click Edit Click Add Enter ANONYMOUS LOGON; Everyone Click Check Names Click OK Give Both Users All Available Permissions Click OK Under Configuration Permissions Select Customize Click Edit Click Add Enter ANONYMOUS LOGON; Everyone

Click Check Names Click OK Give Both Users All Available Permissions Click OK Repeat the above steps for the HsxServer DCOM process Repeat the above steps for the HFMServer DCOM process Repeat the above steps for the HFMService DCOM process Navigate: Component Services > Computers > My Computer Right-click My Computer Click Properties Choose Default Properties Tab Default Authentication Level None Default impersonation level Identify Choose COM Security Tab Under Access Permissions Click Edit Defaults Click Add Enter ANONYMOUS LOGON; Everyone Click Check Names Click OK Give Both Users All Available Permissions Click OK Repeat above steps for Access Permissions >Edit Limits Repeat above steps for Launch and Activate Programs >Edit Defaults Repeat above steps for Launch and Activate Programs >Edit Limits Click Apply Click OK Close the Component Services console KellyA Posts: 13 From: Houston, TX, USA Registered: 5/7/08 Re: Regist the cluster/server problem

YES you can give the cluster any basic name with the exception, of course, of weird symbols. Just name it 'HFMCLUSTER' For the server, I would NOT name 'localhost', it may work in your enclosed system, but naming 'localhost' in any configuration where multiple servers may be used could get sketchy and is a bad habit to develop. I would enter the full name of your machine, and if it has been added to a domain, i would append the domain suffix as well, ex: MYHFMSERVER.oracle.com then to register that cluster, you enter in the name of one of the servers that is a part of the cluster you want registered, HFM will then translate that name and see it as 'HFMCLUSTER', or whatever you decide to name it. Hope i was able to help... take care.

Many Thanks! Kelly! I have configure the DCOM and regist the cluster/server. Now i try to open the HFM icon on my desktop, and then try to create a project, which got the error: " There was an error retrieving the User Management project list, Please verify that a project exist". But actually I have create a project named HFM in the User management console.
