The HOLY TRINITY THE Spirit of the Lord is upon us, because the Lord has anointed us

~~

Trinity Sunday, officially "The Solemnity of the Most Holy of Jesus Christ. Behold the Good News Trinity," is one of the few feasts of the Christian Year that Inspired by Luke 4:18 & John 1:29 celebrates a reality and doctrine rather than an event or person. On Trinity Sunday we remember and honor the eternal God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Trinity Sunday is celebrated the Sunday after Pentecost, and lasts only one day, which is symbolic of the unity of the Trinity. The Trinity is one of the most fascinating and controversial - Christian dogma.

to proclaim: Ecce Agnus Dei - Behold the Lamb of God;

The Holy Trinity is mystery!

By mystery the Church does not mean a riddle, but rather the Trinity is a reality above our human comprehension, one that we may begin to grasp, but ultimately must know through worship, symbol, and faith. It has been said that mystery is not a wall to run up against, but an ocean in which to swim. The common wisdom is that if you talk about the Trinity for longer than a few minutes you will slip into heresy because you are probing the depths of God too deeply. The Trinity is best described in the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed, commonly called the Nicene Creed. (We begin this weekend to say the Nicene Creed it as the Apostles Creed that we proclaimed from the First Sunday of Advent until Pentecost) Essentially, the Trinity is the belief that God is one in essence (Greek ousia), but distinct in person (Greek hypostasis). Don't let the word "person" fool you. The Greek word for person means "that which stands on its own," or "individual reality," and does not mean the persons of the Trinity are three human persons. Therefore we believe that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are somehow distinct from one another (not divided though), yet completely united in will and essence. How can this be? Well, think of the sight of two eyes. The eyes are distinct, yet one and undivided in their sight. Another illustration to explain the Trinity is the musical chord. Think of a C-chord. The C, E, and G notes are all distinct notes, but joined together as one chord the sound is richer and more dynamic than had the notes been played individually. The chords are all equally important in producing

the rich sound, and the sound is lacking and thin if one of the notes is left out. The Son is said to be eternally begotten of the Father, while the Holy Spirit is said to proceed from the Father through the Son. Each member of the Trinity interpenetrates one another, and each has distinct roles in creation and redemption, which is called the Divine economy.
The Old Translation: NICENE CREED
The old translation left out couple of phrases of this prayer.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, ONE IN BEING with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Our New-Revised Translation: NICENE

CREED
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,
Changes in through him all things were made. bold and For us men and for our salvation underlined he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

CONSUBSTANTIAL with the Father;

CONSUBSTANCIAL
One of the words that will stand out in the revised translation of the Creed is the word CONSUBSTANCIAL.

This word is a mouthful! It replaces the expression ONE IN BEING, and it describes the relationship between Jesus and the Father. The revised translation chooses a word that lies closer to the Latin equivalent, consubstantialis. The early councils of the Church forged a vocabulary that carefully articulates orthodox faith, and they choose this word to express the dogma of Jesus Divinity. .The Latin meaning having the same substance, it is more accurate, but to us a bit unusual.

On the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, our Bishop has asked that each parish hold a HOLY HOUR FOR RECONCILIATION AND RECOMMITMENT with regard to child abuse. This date coincides with the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People and provides an opportunity for us to seek the Lords help in dealing with a serious, ongoing issue in the Church. In order to have a better turnout for the adoration, we will be holding this Holy Hour on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, after the 7:30 a.m. morning mass as we begin our 24 hours of Adoration. We also ask that if you are not able to join us at that time for the prayers that you stop by some time and pray for the protection of all children and for an end of all types of abuse, especially the sexual abuse of children.

CATHOLICS FOR LIFE

As it now stands, this mandate forces religious institutions to facilitate and fund contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs. As of May 21, 2012, plaintiffs from Catholic institutions across the country have filed a large and coordinated legal challenge to the HHS mandate. The 43 filings from dioceses, charities, hospitals, and schools across the nation include the Diocese of Joliet, Joliet Catholic Charities, Catholic University of America, the Archdiocese of New York, and the University of Notre Dame. Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Notre Dame's president, wrote in a message to the campus community:
"This filing is about the freedom of a religious organization to live its mission, and its significance goes well beyond any debate about contraceptives, for if we concede that the government can decide which religious organizations are sufficiently religious to be awarded the freedom to follow the principles that define their mission, then we have begun to walk down a path that ultimately leads to the undermining of those institutions." Fortnight for Freedom

In a recent statement from the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops entitled "Our First Most Cherished Liberty," dioceses nationwide are exhorted to prepare for a "Fortnight for Freedom," a 14-day period of prayer, education and action in support of religious freedom, from June 21-July 4, 2012. During these dates, our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power -- St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. To read the bishops' document, go to: http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/fortnight-for-freedom/

To "Speak Out" for religious liberty and conscience protection to lawmakers in Washington, DC, go to: http://www.nchla.org. There is a message ready to send regarding the HHS Mandate which you may add to or change. Just complete your name and address and submit, and the message will go directly to your legislative representative.

The Kevin D. Grieco Flag Pole Memorial

At Boy Scout Camp Big Timber, Elgin, Illinois, Kevin D. Grieco was an Eagle Scout, a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, and an Assistant Scoutmaster and Ranger Crew Advisor with Boy Scout Troop 575 in Winfield, Illinois. He was also a son, a brother, a husband, and father of two beautiful children. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Illinois Army National Guard who dedicated his life to his family and friends, to scouting and his community, and proudly to his country. On October 27, 2008, SSG Kevin D. Grieco gave his life for his country when he was killed by a suicide bomber in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The scouts of Three Fires Council and members of Kevins Army National Guard unit will honor Kevin by erecting a Flag Pole Memorial at BSA Camp Big Timber in Elgin Illinois. Kevin spent much of his scouting career camping and guiding the scouts of the Three Fires Council at this camp. Construction is set to begin July 7, with the dedication set for Saturday, September 22, 2012. Funds and materials are needed for the purchase of flag poles, concrete, construction supplies, and heavy equipment rentals. You can help honor this brave young man and hero from our community who gave so much, by donating to the Kevin D. Grieco Flag Pole Memorial. Donations can be dropped off at or mailed to: BSA Norris Center BSA, Diecke Scout Shop, 415 North Second Street, St. Charles, IL 60174-1254, or 155 West Roosevelt Road, West Chicago, IL 60185. Checks should be written out to Three Fires Council and on the memo line write Kevin D. Grieco Flag Pole Memorial. For more information on donating funds, materials, labor, or equipment, please call Stan Smolucha at 630-235-1858.

A great team of volunteers worked together last weekend to install the new playground equipment. Thank you to Rocco and Michele Sarli, Anthony Bucaro, Jim Danner, Brad Shaw, Tom and Jennifer Joseph, John and Liz Maslona, David and Michelle Buck, Michael Cabrera, Aaron Simpson, Tommy Saylor from the Winfield Fuel and Material Company, Tim Allen, Sean Conley, Paul Gozder from Park Creations, Dave Kasprak, and John Kassaros and American Ground Company who supplied the bobcat, and many others for their hard work and dedication to our children. I was told that the last screws were tightened at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night by the light of a flashlight! Thank you to all persons making donations to this worthy cause at the Wildcat Classic last year and all those donating to our Box Tops Races. The fruits of your labor will be enjoyed by children for years to come. God bless you! Catherine Kos Principal, St. John the Baptist School
