UPDATE ON WATER USE FOR SILVER LADY LANE RESIDENTS

Residents Drawing Water from Trout Lake
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is removing the restrictions for residents who live on Silver Lady Lane and draw water from the lake, except for property where remedial work is still ongoing. All other Silver Lady Lane residents who draw their water from Trout Lake may resume normal use of their water including drinking, cooking, and showering.

Residents Using Wells

Residents on Silver Lady Lane who use wells are advised not to use their well water for drinking, cooking, showering, bathing or washing vegetables until their own well has been tested to confirm no formaldehyde is detected. Some wells may need to have an on-going monitoring program put into place. All Silver Lady Lane properties will continue to have their private water systems tested. Any residents who live close to the spill and are concerned about their water systems are encouraged to contact the Insurance Representative, Brian Samec, at 705-474-7990. For help understanding your water test results, contact the Health Unit at 705-474-1400.

Quick Facts
Water Drawn from Trout Lake
Residents who draw their water from the lake will have tests done on both their raw water before the system treatment, and water treated by the system. Samples for testing will take place once per week for a total of four (4) weeks. The type of water system used by residents will determine the extent and type of testing done. Test results with non-detect levels of potential contaminants will be provided to residents as they become available through the insurance adjustor. If residents have questions about the process and status of test results, representatives from Environmental Solutions Remediation Services will be available. If test results show any detection of potential contaminants, representatives from Environmental Solutions Remediation Services will provide copies of the results and discuss them directly with the property owner. All water testing done with the owners will be completed through the insurance company and environmental consultants on site.

Well Water Users

Residents should not use their well water for drinking, cooking, showering, or washing vegetables and fruits. Testing: The process for testing the water for residents who draw their water from a well is still being developed. This will be shared with all affected residents as soon as the process is determined. Ongoing Monitoring: Work continues between the consultants, hydro-geologists, the Ministry of the Environment and the Health Unit to decide which wells need to have an on-going monitoring program.
