INTRODUCCIN
Al cambiar un instrumento analgico por uno digital se debe conocer cules
son las nuevas posibilidades y qu limitaciones hay. Se debe conocer cules
son las diferencias entre un transmisor o una vlvula inteligente, respecto a
un instrumento analgico.

Diferenciar entre los instrumentos intelligent, smart y digitales.
Identificar las ventajas y desventajas de un instrumento digital con
respecto a un analgico.
Definir si un instrumento digital est trabajando en tiempo real.
Enumerar las ventajas y desventajas de una vlvula digital de control.
TRANSMISORES DIGITALES
Recordemos algunos conceptos:

Se clasifican en:
3.1 Transmisor Intelligent
Al poseer un microprocesador realiza funciones que no hacen los
analgicos: linealiza, compensa en funcin de otra variable medida o
algoritmos y otras.
Transmisor Smart
Su salida es analgica de 4 a 20 mA, y se puede comunicar con un
hand-held usando modulacin en la salida.

Transmisor digital
Totalmente digital, inclusive la salida. Aunque puede tener salida
analgica de 4 a 20 mA. Los instrumentos fieldbus (de campo) son
de este tipo.

TIEMPO REAL
Los instrumentos analgicos trabajan en tiempo real.
Los instrumentos digitales se considera que trabajan en tiempo real si scan
time es mucho menor que las constantes de retardo del proceso controlado.
El instrumento digital tiene tiempos muertos introducidos por el ADC y por
el tiempo de ejecucin del programa del microprocesador.
La transmisin digital agrega ms tiempo muerto, por ser comunicacin
serial, y de acuerdo a la eficiencia del protocolo entre el transmisor y
receptor.
En la siguiente tabla se muestra una comparacin de tiempos muertos en
lazos con distintos tipos de transmisores:

EJEMPLOS DE APLICACIN:
En la figura se muestra el diagrama de bloques de un transmisor anlogo de
presin diferencial.
El sensor es capacitivo, para medir la variacin de capacidad se utiliza un
oscilador y un demodulador. La salida del demodulador controla la
corriente del transmisor.
