JOB FUNCTION: The purpose of the intern is to assist the Gender, Livelihoods and Diversifications Advisor, the Livestock Service Advisor and the Operations manager to execute specific activities. 4. JOB RESPONSIBITLIETIES: The role of the Intern includes: Assists the Gender and Livelihood Diversification Advisor to conduct action research; costs benefit analysis of the existing Income Generation Groups, conduct case studies and support economic activities in the pastoral areas. Assists the Gender, Livelihoods and Diversifications Advisor, the Livestock Service Advisor and the Operations manager to execute specific activities. Provides support to the Pastoral Programme Coordination unit Assists in training of the IGGs/livestock marketing groups in the project areas (Borana and Afar) and helps in organizing learning visits. Assists in supporting the pastoralist Girls forum initiatives in Borana. The specific role would be documentation and learning. Performs other duties as assigned. Deliverables expected from the intern Monthly work plan developed in consultation with the Gender Livelihood and Diversification Advisor and other staff within the Unit. Monthly update reports of key achievements against planned activities; Costs benefit analysis report of existing IGGs Action research report Reports of assigned activities Training reports, case studies and other documentation. Final internship report 5. QUALIFICATIONS (KNOW HOW) A. Education Required: BSC in Agricultural Economics/ Agri-business Development/ Development studies B. Skills Required: High proficiency in written and spoken English High proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point Interpersonal communication skills Desired:

Facilitation skill, Participatory training, PRA techniques, firm understanding of pastoral society, gender issues, and rights based approaches and result based monitoring and evaluation and the underlying causes of poverty. Ability to work well in difficult and stressful situations; Good communication skills and team work abilities. C.
