Essar Oil A2.3 Assignment

Well no. 2 Production Report:

Synopsis
Average liquid and oil production of well no. 2 was about 18.5 m3 and 2.7 m3 respectively (oil cut around 14.5%). The drawdown was such that the maximum pump discharge would be around 24 m3. Pump efficiency was about 75%. The drawdown was increased on 12th August 2010 (stroke length increased from 86 in to 102 in). On studying the production trend we can infer the following: At the early stage, the average liquid production increased to about 21 m3 and the oil cut trend was irregularly around 13-14 %. The gross liquid production increase was temporary and later, it came back to its original value i.e. around 18 m3. The pumping efficiency went down from 75% to around 56% indicating pump damage. Most probably, the reservoir deliverability did not match with the higher drawdown. The higher drawdown resulted in lowering of wellbore liquid level causing dry run as well as frequent pump off conditions. Presence of unconsolidated sand in the formation also contributed to the pump damage, when it was produced with the reservoir fluid as a result of higher drawdown. A hot oil job was done on 8th December 2010 (Hot oil job involves pumping of a mixture of hot crude, xylene, OSD, HSD inside the well in order to increase the oil saturation around the perforations for increasing the average oil production). Then the average oil cut increases temporarily from 12-13% to around 30%. But gradually it decreased to around 8-9%. It is quite evident that the oil-water contact went up resulting in water coning & eventually higher W/C.

On 6th July 2011, the SPM was increased from 5 to 6. The gross liquid production and oil cut increased from 16 m3 and 5-6% to 22-23 m3 and 11-12% respectively. On 28th July, 2011 the drawdown was increased (stroke length was increased to 120 in from 102 in. Observations made from the above production trends: Between 6th July to 28th July, higher drawdown given by subsurface pump which was not matching with reservoir deliverability & resulted in frequent drop in annulus/wellbore liquid levels as well as instantaneous influx of reservoir fluid . However this imbalance created by changing lift parameters also increased sand production. The oil cut trend becomes highly irregular. There gross liquid production trend did not change significantly. The reason is that the reservoir deliverability did not match with the increasing drawdown. There may be pressure depletion in the reservoir due to increasing drawdown or damaged skin.

Suggestions: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)
PLT: To identify water contributing zones CBL: Checking the cementation by conducting CBL, re-cementation if required. New Perforation: The existing perforation should be closed by cement squeeze job & reperforated by considering OWC & proper flow geometry( preferably linear) Pump off controller: Arrangement should be done for installing downhole pump off controller in the well Well stimulation: Also, the near well bore permeability (of oil bearing zone) should be improved to treat skin damage. Recompletion: A sand-control gravel packing method used to prevent production of formation sand. Gravel packing involves the complete placement of selected gravel across the production interval to prevent the production of formation fines or sand. Appropriate rod pumping method (insert/tubing) selection depending upon well deliverability.
