INTRODUCTION
Introduction & Purpose The Dutch Historical AFV Register is intended to provide a cataloging of all of the historical Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV), including tanks, APCs and self-propelled artillery, etc that are on preserved or otherwise displayed in museums or as monuments in The Netherlands. As such the registry ranges from the World War I-era Renault FT to modern Leopard tanks. However, the registry is not intended to include modern AFVs that are still in service. Format The Netherlands Historical AFV Register is organized by province and city or town as follows. PROVINCE CITY OR TOWN AFV Model Man./User status Notes and/or location

Man./User donotes the original manufacturer (country) and various users, using three letter country codes. Status is denoted by one of the following codes. ind = indoor display out = outdoor display std = stored (this can be either indoor our outdoor storage, but clearly not on display) wre = wreck (typically vehicles recovered from a target range or simply in very bad condition) dep = departed Additional information about a particular vehicle is often included in footnotes. Often, if there are a large number of AFVs on display in a particular town or military post, sublistings are also provided, organized by location - museum, building, road, etc. Locations that have the mark (MIL) are part of, or based on military bases. As such they are either: not open for public limited accessible (either ID card or appointment) limited opening hours Sources The Netherlands Historical AFV Register is compiled from a number of sources. The register is an expansion of Michel Krauss own list and photos of AFVs displayed in the Netherlands. People who helped to further expand the list are Lesley Delsing (information and photos), Neil Baumgardner (information), Pierre-Olivier Buan (photos), Walter Schwabe (information and photos). Some of the other notable sources include the former Tanks for the Memories geocaching site, The Sherman Register, Wereld in oorlog, Militaire voertuigen in de collectie van het Legermuseum, Shermans in Holland, Pantser.net. DAF YP408 as well as forums and message groups such as the AFV News Discussion Board and G104 (the Sherman Register mailing list). A large number of individual contributors, many of which are credited throughout the registry, have provided invaluable information. All the AFVs can be found on The AFV Register website or the AFV News Discussion Board where you will find even more information and pictures. If you have any comments or corrections, please send them to Michel Krauss at the.afv.reg.nl@gmail.com or simply post to the AFV News Discussion Board.

At the shooting range various hard targets can be found, the vehicles listed are the ones that could be identified. On a satellite view, at least 14 AFVs can be found. 11 According to a plate fixed on the tank, This tank served with the 5th Canadian Armoured Division under the command of Major General B. M. Hoffmeister and was part of the 2nd Tank Regiment, Lord Strathcona's Horse Royal Canadians. Together with its sister regiments The Royal Canadian 8th Princess Louise Hussars and The Royal Canadian British Columbian Dragoons, it took part in Operation Dutch Cleanser, planned to liberate the western Veluwe area from Arnhem. The operation started on April 14th, 1945 and followed the route Deelen Airfield the Hoge Veluwe Otterlo. From there they liberated Wekerom, Barneveld, Voorthuizen, Nijkerk and finally Harderwijk on April 18th, 1945. Eight tanks were lost during this operation. ARGYLE belonged to the 4th troop of the A-Squadron of the 2nd Tank Regiment (the figure 4 in a triangle, colour yellow). The maroon-coloured rectangle with the Maple Leaf indicates it belonged to the 5th Canadian Armoured Division. The black number 30 in the yellow circle stands for the weight classification. Factory SN 3057774 The true tory behind this ARGYLE is not clear, because ARGYLE of the 4th troop A-squadron was a Sherman Firefly. 12 Turrets are part of the Cold War Defence line Ijssellinie. 13 Most likely part of the M4A4 hull at same location. Hull with turret are for sale. 14 Vehicle under restoration, there are only the hull and a turret without the main gun. Hull with turret are for sale. 15 Vehicle under restoration, there are only the hull and a turret. Turret front has been modified and was used at a fixed defense location.
