Many people immigrate to the United States because they believe that it is better than their native country. In fact, many people believe that the United States is the best country in the world. Do you agree? Why or why not?

No one can deny that there are still a lot of people dreaming about immigrating to the United States. Receiving an America citizenship is the turning point in their life. In this manner, they can spread arms and welcome their American golden dream. According to an essay The America I Love, written by Elie Wiesel, there is a man who is longing for the citizenship of America. It is significant to him for being indentified. As a Jew, it is awful austere everywhere, especially in Europe. As same as a wandering Gypsy, He does not be wanted or protected by any society. However, America accepted him to be a citizen of them. It is the first time he never lost, and from then on, he was mentally home and be a part of a country. In the similar way, he got the sense of belonging. Its a subjective feeling, a person who has this sense will

feel like to be a part of the country and bring out a feeling of home. On the contrary, a person who does not have this might recognize himself as nothing but merely a passing visitor. America gives a ray of hope to his life. He is proud of being an American form all his heart. He regards America as a country which can give the right for people to dream of happiness, peace, and liberty. However, there is still some paradox in it. Read Americas credo as follow: for an individual, as for a nation, to be free is an admirable dutybut to help others become free is even more admirable. America would have a strong desire to help others to struggle for their lost freedom. Nevertheless, while America claimed to it, the war has been carry on far from Vietnam, Cambodia, Africa, Middle East, and Iraqi. Isnt it too ironic for the victims from these countries? However, the author still insisted his idea by telling us that one could say that no nation is composed of saints alone. Despite everyone might have sin, it would be better if we do not use the exaggerative words used for public oratory. It is improper for a nation to talk in high-sounding tone. All we expect is have a real promise rather than a bounced check.

Not only war issue but also the racial problem is being concerned. There is still many kinds of racial discrimination happened everywhere and every time in America. As a black, he has unwieldy inheritance, the ability to alter public space in ugly ways.

Everything can be taut indeed. Although he would try hard to break away from the stereotype of the black, he is still a black. In his daily life, he is always be mistaken for a criminal only because he is a black man in urban America. Actually, he is full of fear. He would like to choose to remain a shadow-timid, but a survivor. His shyness of combat has clear sources. He realizes that most black peoples destiny is either in prison or in coffin. He has a strong feeling to struggle away from the destiny.

Everybody knows that Caucasian men have a deep-rooted concept of racial discrimination. They regard themselves as the best race in the world and there is nobody could compete with them. Ironic to say, they touted for their upward mobility, but never reached equality. While they make claim to be the ethnic melting pot, they still keep the unfair treatment and discrimination to other race. They do not treat equally to others, only because of their color of skin. They also play tricks on African American as Oreo a kind of cookies which is shaped black outside and white inside, Asian American as banana, and Native American is regard as apple. All kind of such jokes are unpleasant and uncomfortable for us but the Caucasian. Many people have an American dream. However, is that exactly exist, or just a fiction for people to dream it? As we know from the prose, many immigrants have their achievement in their own country. As a consequence, while they arrived to America, it has been nothing totally and could be a step downward in status. Many

have college education in their hometown, nevertheless, when they get in America, the become shopkeepers in grocery stores, service workers in restaurant, seam stresses in garment factories, and janitors in hotels, instead of the high status job likes engineers, teachers or administrator matched up to their intelligence. As same as being human, we should not pay any disrespect to others just because of their color of skin. Everyone is equal. If you would like to receive the respect, then you should pay your own respect to others first. Everybody knows that "America is a big melting pot". The melting pot here means that people with different cultural and ethnical backgrounds immigrate to the States, live together, get mixed and build up this wonderful culture that we call American culture today. Diversity is conducive to the learning environment. However, it is necessary for people in this environment to be open and receptive to things which are different from theirs. But this is the most challenging task to accomplish. Someone still feels like an outsider to American culture. This is perhaps because as minorities they know much more of American culture than the mainstream Americans know of other cultures. However, American seems not to approach this ideal state by now.

Because of this, we can find that if these two main problems in America society cannot be solved, there will not be a proper place for people to immigrate.
