Women Entrepreneurs: What does the future hold?

The importance of Passion and Pragmatism in being a WE? / What is the SINGLE most important thing we need to do as women as Women Entrepreneurs , for our future?

I believe that two things strides you to become the leader or boss of you own which is Will and Passion. Throughout my experience in my

professional life, I have found that it is your Attitude which decides where you will stand in future. If we just browse through our history, we will find that women have always proved themselves in terms of multitasking. They have always been considered the manager of home like, taking care of their children, husband, parents or in-laws, managing household work, etc but the segment where women are handling both home and office work, they are the best example for Multitasking. What makes Women entrepreneurs successful? The attitude of women entrepreneurs to deal with different matters with assertiveness, persuasiveness, hard work, diligence, perseverance and willingness to take risks has become the standing stones of their success.

Positive changes/developments/achievements in the last decade affecting Women entrepreneurs. (Government, Corporates, Society)?

When I talk of positive achievements in the last decade in regard to women entrepreneurship, I would quote the statistics of OECD(Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) (average for 1996-1997), stating that the OECD average of female employers and workers (on their own account) as percentage of all employers and workers (on their own account) is 28.5%.

It is just that they have not been given the privilege in earlier centuries otherwise they would have the leading stars since then. I am talking about the current scenario globally where women are leading in most of the industry sectors. Few of them are, Anita roddick, The Body Shop, Mary Kay Ash, Mar Kay Cosmetics, Ruth Handler, Barbie Doll, Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo, Indu Jain, The Times Group and many more. Future Challenges:

The challenges and opportunities provided to the women of digital era are growing rapidly that the job seekers are turning into job creators. Many women start a business due to some traumatic event, such as divorce, discrimination due to pregnancy or the corporate glass ceiling, the health of a family member, or economic reasons such as a layoff. In this regard they may face the following challenges: Problems of raising equity capital Difficulty in borrowing fund.

Thought-cut companies.

Problems of availing raw-materials. Problems of obsolescence of indigenous technology Increased pollutions Ecological imbalanced.

Keeping in mind these challenges our direct selling industry has always been a solution to overcome many of them. Changing expectations from society, corporates and men from WE?

If we observe, we can say that the more society has given chance to women move ahead, the more she is been found all rounder and capable to hold all kinds of responsibility. We are lucky to be in 21st century where women keep their head held high. Movement to high capital , high risk sectors rather than the traditional MSMEs. Its a good thing , but what are the factors? I have been a part of direct selling industry for last few years and I would say that like me, many women have given a chance to themselves by becoming entrepreneurs. I listen to many success stories under direct selling companies on and off where women start with no investment and no qualification requirement, flexible working hours. In fact, they start with 100 and reach to thousands in earning.

If I talk about the successful women entrepreneurs in Direct Selling industry, there are many. For Example, in Tupperware, Modicare, K-Link and Herbalife, etc. number of women tried their hand in this industry and since then have never turned back. Our industry is the major contribution towards women entrepreneurship. I feel proud to be a part of this industry as in India, the sales consultant network is 64% in 2010-11 as compare to men which is 36%. For many , entrepreneurship is an aspiration or goal in itself. Is it ? how , why? Self identity for any person on this earth has become important. Therefore, entrepreneurship has become an aspiration/goal for Women. It provides confidence to a woman and contribution towards welfare of society leading to the betterment. This way it would form a chain for the upliftment of women in the Indian Society, thereafter building the future of women. Confused identities as women-

Primary Care Givers, Career Primary

Workers what ? wives, daughters , mothers , careerists , employment givers, mentors, nurturers, vendors . So many ! Today, we are playing the role of many relationships and along with that have done wonders in many sectors like, school & colleges, sports, government, service, business, navy, army, air force, scientists, technology, arts, etc.

There are many qualities and positivity about women like, they add value to the work, they are multitasked, and patient enough, know how to balance emotions as well as practicality. One point I would like to emphasize here is that working women and entrepreneurs should not feel guilty about leaving their kids at home. With all my faith in women, as I already mentioned, it is proven over the time that they can handle office and home both very well. Overall, I can say that there is nothing impossible for a woman if she is determined, passionate and at last but not the least, her attitude towards life. I would like to just add in the end that NOTHING CAN STOP US IF WE WANT TO START UP.
