Expect the unexpected when you step aboard CHE. This yacht is truly revolutionary and turns the superyacht concept on its head. CHE is first and foremost a sailing yacht destined for adventure and distant voyages. It is a yacht designed to be sailed, not merely look good in the harbour. CHE successfully manages to combine luxury with ability, offering a superyacht of comfort and capability.

This yacht is all about balance, as she connects wind with water and blurs the distinction between exterior and interior, guests and crew. You may wonder how these opposing forces have created such an attractive and succesful yacht. The clue lies in her taijitu motif the intertwined yin yang symbol representing the harmony of balanced opposites. Again and again one finds a surprising synergy between apparently conflicting elements.

The navigation station lies forward on the flybridge and affords fantastic 360 degree views. This is clearly an ideal position from which to manoeuvre the vessel, and both engines, thrusters and prop pitch can be controlled from here. CHE cruises easily at 12 knots on just 65 percent engine capacity and to conserve fuel she will make nine knots with one engine. The owner of CHE: "The 13-metre beam means there is practically no heeling or rolling when the yacht is at anchor. Even on choppy seas the cruising is smooth and easy for those who are unfamiliar with sailing. At the same time, the size of CHE and her low draught make fast sailing possible, reaching 13-14 knots and more with good winds."

The harmonious interior design shows the inspiration of the yacht owners wife Cha Cha and her creative skills, enhanced by Sunreefs designers. All materials and colours used on CHE are a result of this cooperation. She did not want the interior to compete with the natural beauty of locations where CHE will be sailing. However, to give the boat a touch of sensuality and holiday ambience, she incorporated turquoise colours in a few decorative elements such as table tops and cushions to complement the sunny lagoons that CHE will explore.

The grey tones feature a clean, retro palette which, while understated, emphasizes the natural colour of the sea and sky of its surroundings

The saloon is dominated by the dining area to port - the large table follows the clean, modern theme: a simple, solid rectangle in shiny aqua. As elsewhere, CHE grey vinyl sofas are comfortable, situated along the side with grey mesh chairs which compliment the remainder of the space. The gallery runs the full length of the saloon. It can be accessed forward and aft and guests are encouraged to view the chef in action, as he works in a kitchen,

furnished in modern brushed stainless steel. The uncluttered design is deceptively spiral simple and extremely effective. The only access to the flybridge is via a staircase, which creates a nice open sense of space. The titanium grab rails make for easy, safe climbing, even while sailing. The deck is covered in wide, short teak planking laid in an appealing nonsymmetrical design.

the blurring of the distinction between crew and guest areas

CHEs most noticeable feature is the blurring of the distinction between crew and guest areas. The result is overwhelmingly positive cunningly clever design means that guests still retain privacy while the crew are not impeded in their work. The exemplar of this is the wonderfully spacious saloon which shares the main deck with a state of the art galley. And this bold idea really works: a kitchen is the heart of any home, and CHEs galley brings the centre of the yacht alive. Guests can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the chefs creativity, and can freely wander in for a tempting taste - or draw the blinds and relax, in the comfort and privacy of their room.
