2011 WHS/MCHS Alumni Scholarship Winners

Each year the Woodsfield High School and Monroe Central Alumni Association presents scholarships to children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of alumni from either school The 2011 scholarship winners were: Kristen M. Blake, daughter of Jon and Julia (Burbacher) Blake, is a student at Ohio University pursuing a major in communication sciences and disorders. A graduate of Zanesville High School. She is the granddaughter of Nancy (Stoehr) Burbacher (1958). Kristen received the WHS Memorial Scholarship in 2011. Tucker Brown, son of Michael E. and Amy S. (Stine) Brown, grandson of Carol (Eaton) Stine (1968), was the recipient of the 2011 Class of 1956 Alumni Scholarship. He is a graduate of River High School and attends Ohio University-Eastern to pursue a degree in business management. Casey Denbow is the son of Tom Denbow (1985) and Michele (Keylor) Denbow (1985), grandson of Jack Keylor (1962). He is a graduate of Gallia Academy High School, Gallopolis. He attends Marshall University. Casey received the Woodsfield Alumni Church Memorial Scholarship in 2011. Olivia Guiler, daughter of Kevin and Robyn (Ellis) Guiler (1981) and granddaughter of Nancy (Johnson) Guiler (1957). A graduate of Monroe Central, she is a student at Ohio University to pursue a major in nursing. Olivia received the WHS Memorial Scholarship in 2011. Erica Nicole Hooper, a Monroe Central graduate, was a 2011 recipient of the Barbara Conner Memorial Scholarship. She attends Kent State Tuscarawas in pursuit of a degree in veterinary technology. She is the daughter of Todd Hooper (1988) and Melissa (Baker) Hooper (1987), granddaughter of Martin J. Baker (1962) and Charity Sue

Kristen M. Blake (Dailey) Hooper (1967). Corey M. Jones, son of Michael A. (1971) and Julie (Parks) Jones, is a Monroe Central High School graduate. He attends Ohio University-Eastern to pursue a degree in physical therapy. He received the 2011 Village of Woodsfield Scholarship. Nicholas Jorris is the son of Shari (Rice) Nixon (1982) and Scott Jorris (1981). He is the grandson of Kay (Ackerman) Jorris (1958) and great-grandson of Francis Fritz Ackerman (1937). Nick, a Monroe Central graduate, received the WHS Memorial Scholarship. He attends OSU Graduate School for Pharmacy. Taylor Myers, son of Ken Myers (1976) and Deborah R. (Allen) Myers, attends Marietta College to pursue a degree in education and leadership. He is a Beallsville High graduate and recipient of the Barbara Conner Memorial Scholarship. Dillon Potts is the son of Kevin (1979) and Lisa (Billman) Potts (1980), grandson of Harlan (1947), Corrine (Walter) Billman (1956), and Dean Potts (1956). He is a graduate of John Glenn High School, New Concord. Dillon received th 2011 Norman W. Bill Hogue Memorial Scholarship. Richelle A. Richelle A. Ricer received the 2011 Carol J. Schumacher Nursing Scholarship. Kelsey Ring, daughter of Andrew Ring (1984) and Lori (Brannon) Ring (1986), is a graduate of Fort Frye High School. She is the granddaughter of Dwight Brannon (1966) and JoAnn (Brooks) Brannon (1966); great-granddaughter of Paul Ring (1950), Marie (Weber) Ring (1951) and Ann (Garrett) Hinderlong (1944). Kelsey, who is attending The Ohio State University pursuing a degree in hospitality management, received a 2011 WHS Memorial Scholarship. Philip Stephen, son of Thomas and Becky (VanSkiver) Stephen (1981), is a Monroe Central graduate. He attends Ohio

Kelsey Ring University. Philip received the 2011 Louis Schumacher Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Kayla Willis is a graduate of Pinckney Community High School in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. She attends the Art Institute

Philip Stephen of Michigan to pursue a degree in graphic design. Kayla is the daughter of Scott R. and Cynthia K. (Helbling) Willis, granddaughter of Charles S. Helbling (1956). She received the 2011 Class of 1952 Alumni Scholarship.
