Message from the President

At Pasona Groups progress meeting held in June 2008

Fulf illing Individual Responsibilities as a Social Activist

Pasona Groups primary function is to assist each and every individual in realizing his or her full potential. For the mature job seeker, who is confronting difficulties in finding work due to age, for example, our efforts are directed toward identifying positions that will take full advantage of specific skills, abilities and experience. For the inexperienced, on the other hand, our support rests more on drawing out and harnessing the individuals positive attributes and potential. Put simply, Pasona Groups job is to create an employment, education and training infrastructure that provides each individual with the opportunity to work and the freedom to find the position of his or her choice. This is in effect the essence of our corporate social responsibility. In order to fulfill this social responsibility, to create the various infrastructure components required and to raise overall public awareness, we have and will continue to struggle against established convention and rules. In retrospect, Pasona Groups history has indeed been characterized by efforts to confront challenge and to achieve substantive breakthrough in support of a great many people and their endeavors to find work. People who speak out in society, affect change, and contribute to society in order to make it better are called social activists. It is my desire to make the Pasona Group such an assembly of people. For more than 30 years, Pasona Group has endeavored to create a society in which individuals can find work irrespective of employment system, corporate scale, industry and region. In the decade ahead, we will redouble our efforts to build an Independent Society (a self-reliant society based on the individual) that will allow job seekers to fulfill their dreams, enjoy an active life and fulfill their potential, free from the constraints of age, gender and nationality. As a social activist, Pasona Group will continue to confront new challenges with a strong sense of mission and passion.

Motoyasu Seiichi

Yasuyuki Ide

Branch Manager, Pasona Hitachi After gaining experience as a member of the Social Contribution Committee, the vague concept of social contribution activities became increasingly clear and an important part of my personal life. My lifestyle habits have changed signi cantly and I now make every e ort to recycle milk cartons and sort waste. Looking ahead, I intend to participate more actively in eco-friendly activities. In some small manner, I hope to assist in the protection of the global environment.

Team Leader, Team No. 1, Pasona Fukuoka Participation in recovery e orts after the Fukuoka Seiho-Oki Earthquake left a lasting impression. I had always thought that fund-raising and donations were the most e ective form of support. While nancial assistance is of course important, I came to recognize the signi cant impact of onsite assistance after participating in relief activities. In the future, I will rst take physical action, raising a sweat to do whatever is required.

Atsushi Iwamoto

Human Resources Division, Pasona Group Inc.

It was not until I had entered the Company that I rst participated in social contribution activities. It was an uplifting experience to feel the joys of helping people in need and working to protect the global environment. I am now playing a leading role in organizing employee e orts in wide ranging activities including disaster relief charity events and fund-raising. The rst step is to do whatever we can. It is a wonderful feeling to engage in volunteer activities with colleagues.

Keiko Yamazaki

Tokyo Marketing Department, Pasona Youth, Inc. I came to realize the importance of our role as a good corporate citizen through the companys social contribution activities. When asked by a local resident during cleanup activities What company are you from? I responded Pasona. I think that person is now a Pasona fan. I am convinced that we can nurture closer ties with the local community and engender a sense of trust through continuous unheralded e orts.

Sayaka Izumi

Administration Department, General A airs Group Pasona Tech, Inc. I have participated in a variety of volunteer activities since I was a student. The desire to participate is of course important. But I soon learned that responding appropriately to the other partys needs is far more important. Volunteer work should not be a matter of self-satisfaction. My motto now is to engage in volunteer activities that address the essential needs of others. It is extremely encouraging and inspiring that I can discuss volunteer work with my workmates.

Takeshi Hamada

Metropolitan Marketing Headquarters, Minato Group Pasona Sourcing Inc. The rst time that I participated in fund-raising activities, I had no idea what I was doing. I just stood there calling out donations please! When people asked me what the donations would be used for I could not reply. I soon realized that the act of fund-raising or participating in volunteer work was secondary to knowing and understanding the purpose of such e orts. In addition to taking that rst step of actually participating in activities, I hope to broaden the scope of my e orts and introduce more people to volunteer work by better understanding each objective and explaining them to others.
