News from Impact Consulting!

It's been a great year for Impact Consulting at LBS! We've helped numerous organisations with their business problems, and have provided opportunities for many students to develop their skills. We hope that many of you will continue with your involvement next year, and we want to wish you an enjoyable summer break!

A BIG THANK YOU!!!!

As this is the last newsletter for the academic year, we would like to thank the MBA 2012s and other graduating students who have been involved with Impact Consulting. We especially want to thank Andrea Zuluaga Uribe for her leadership and great work!

Interview with Armando Garcia Berumen

What is your background before the MBA? I was a management consultant at Booz & Co. working in their Mexico City office. Most of my projects were with FMCG companies across Latin America and the US. Why did you get involved with Impact Consulting and as a board member? I wanted to make a difference by adding value to entrepreneurs, NGOs or SMEs, and help them succeed. I believe that working with these organisations would positively impact a country's social and economic development, while allowing me to work in an area I like the most, consulting. Impact Consulting is a young club (only a year old officially). Thus, I decided to join as a board member because the opportunities to lead initiatives and drive change were huge. As President, what are your plans for the club next year? My goal is to continue developing Impact Consulting both internally and externally to provide a life-changing project experience for students and project managers, while helping organisations with high economic and social development potential. To achieve this, I want to focus and implement key initiatives to improve each of the 3 elements of what I call the "Impact Consulting Triangle" - clients, project managers, and team/club members. Next year, I will push the following initiatives and actions for each of the groups: Organisations with high economic/social development potential

Team/club members passionate about social/economic impact through "hands-on" management consulting 1) Provide top-notch consulting training (problem solving, storyboarding, etc.) for team/club members. 2) Co-host events with social/economic development focus with clubs targeting similar topics. 3) Communicate and celebrate the club's achievements . Can you talk about your experience with Impact Consulting this year? As Project Manager for a Ghanaian Microfinance Institution, Financial Republic, I led a team that recommended a funding roadmap to attract investors and changes to their governance model. As Business Development on the board, I was responsible for designing a project sourcing process and managed relationships with key clients, such as The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Pratham UK, and Ashoka UK. How has this experience added to your MBA? Joining Impact Consulting has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my MBA so far. Not only have I developed my consulting skills to learn how to manage a consulting project and build client relationships, but I have also met and worked with outstanding peers with similar interests. On top of this, receiving positive feedback from our clients made the hours invested in the club worth it. Any further comments? I want to thank all of our club members and project team members for contributing to sustainable economic and social development through their engagements. Please make sure you share with the Board, your positive and negative experiences while working on a project. We have learned a lot from your feedback over the past year, and we are improving both the club and the way we work with clients.
