Cadorniga BSAcT 1a The Importance of Studying Communication In the world of today, communication is a very essential key towards understanding and communicating with other people. Even those who cannot speak use other means such as hand gestures and body movements in order to convey the message that they want to say or express. Now imagine, what would happen if no one knows anything about communication? Often times, studying communication seems prosaic to a lot of people since it is genuine to our human system to be able to communicate to others even before we knew how to pronounce our very own names. However, we still should consider the significance of studying communication because it is not just about being able to speak and utter words towards others. It encompasses a lot more including proper use of the language that one speaks and the manner in which we should communicate towards others. Being knowledgeable towards communication is a must for everyone for the reason that all of us are aware that communication is the primary means of being able to understand each other at any circumstance. If we wont be able to communicate properly, numerous complications may transpire. For instance, when a teacher is not being able to exemplify correct teachings towards his/her students in a speech class, His/Her students would develop and acquire an improper way of speaking. Another, example is if a reporter of the financial statements of a business wasnt able to present the data acquired from the business transactions, the decision making of the investors would be very much affected thus, leading to a wrong conclusion which could greatly affect the entire entity. Also, upon studying communication, a person is developing his/her sense of self confidence and competence in handling his/herself. Nowadays, being able to communicate and present yourself towards others in a very pleasant manner is a great thing, for some people even earn a living by just using their communication skills, like in selling products or if one is a reporter or newscaster. Also, in job interviews it is an immediate plus factor if one is very much educated in communication since he/she is confident to speak and to convey whatever it is that he/she is trying to say to the interviewer. Wherever we may go, we could not escape the fact that communication is a huge requirement for us to survive. As the saying goes, No man is an island. We need to communicate to others in order fulfill our needs as a human. Truly, it is common for us to think that uttering what we need to say is already called communicating but apparently, communication is more than just speaking. The very significance of studying communication is to be able to acquire a deeper knowledge and give meaning to the art of expressing ourselves towards others whether it is in the form of speaking or in showing what we are trying to say by means of other things. More importantly, it does not only involve improving our speaking skills but also teaches us to develop a better listening skill which is an essential element in finding the real essence of studying communication.
