Introduction My friends, Jesus wanted his disciples to understand the kingdom of God and described it using different images

or parables. Today we hear two of those parables the seed growing secretly and the mustard seed. Notice that in both parables, it is a human being who plants the seed, but God who is responsible for the seeds growth. We are not to take lightly our role in building the kingdom, nor are we to become discouraged. The kingdom of God develops in Gods own time.

Stewardship Treasure Mass Offering last week: Poor Box: First Holy Communion Offering:

$306.00 $2,304.00

Stewardship Thank You Many people contribute to the efficient running of the parish. As the CCD year ended last weekend, we would like to extend a special thank you to Daniel Pereira for setting up tables and chairs for Saturday morning CCD classes and to Mike McCallum and the Grade 8 $3,311.00 students and CCD Aides for taking the tables and chairs down and putting them away. A special thank you also goes to Mary De Silva, Angelina Calauro, Julieta Bento, Joe and Connie Rebelo who decorated the church for the First Holy Communion Masses last weekend. Your stewardship is greatly appreciated.

Weekly Stewardship Thought Stewardship of treasure is based on giving a percentage of our income. If we have little income, we will give little. If we have greater income, we will give more. Whether we are poor or rich, we can each give a percentage of our income to church and other charities.

Reflection Question Am I conscious of the seeds of faith that were planted in me? How have I grown in that life? Do my words and actions serve as seeds for the kingdom of God in the lives of the people in my life at home, at work, and at school?

Thank You, Catechists St. Patricks Parish is truly grateful to the current CCD catechists who have volunteered their time and talent to teach our young people for the upcoming school year, September 2012 June 2013. However, we are still in need of Catechists and Aides for the start of CCD in September. This rewarding ministry is both challenging and fulfilling. You can expect to spend about three hours a week in preparation and class time. Catholic men and women need to step forward to teach our faith to the young people of our parish. Please speak to Mrs. Maria Pacheco (CCD Coordinator) or call the Rectory at 2369866 if you are interested in helping. Congratulations to the MSA Graduates of 2012! On Thursday, June 14, Mount Saint Agnes Academy graduated the Class of 2012. The following students are members of St. Patricks Parish: Christopher Andrade Samantha Blakemore Owen Chisnall Renato Costa Jasmine Dawson Nicholas Lopes Riley McLaughlin Leanne Moniz Kyla Sinclair Megan Teixeira

Peters Pence Collection Next Weekend Next weekend our Diocese will take up the Peters Pence Collection, which provides the Holy Father with the funds he needs to carry out his most important charitable works. The proceeds benefit the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Special envelopes are available in the bulletin for the collection which will take place at all Masses on June 23 and June 24. Thank you very much for your support of the Holy See. Through your generosity, we can cast the peace of Christ upon the world. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Patricks Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament normally held each Thursday evening in the Church has been suspended until further notice. Lunchtime Mass at St. Theresas Suspended The 12:10 p.m. Mass held daily at St. Theresas Cathedral will be suspended for the summer months. It will resume in September. Alcoholic Anonymous Meetings St. Patricks Parish is happy to be the site of Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) meetings every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 8:30 p.m. in the Rectory basement. Meetings are offered in both English and Portuguese and are open to anyone wanting to stop by. Catholic Questions and Answers I notice that Latinos in my parish kiss their thumb after making the sign of the cross. Why? Answer They actually are kissing a cross formed by placing the thumb and forefinger at right angles. Kissing the cross (as we do on Good Friday) is an ancient gesture of devotion. It implies a humble acceptance of ones own cross in imitation of Jesus. A Special Prayer for Fathers God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children. Help them to be a father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way. Amen. Smile for the Day! --Dad Reads the Label
A three-year-old boy went with his father to see a litter of kittens. On returning home, he breathlessly informed his mother that there were 2 boy kitties and 2 girl kitties. "How do you know?" his mother asked. "Daddy picked them up and looked underneath," he replied, "I think it's printed on the bottom."

Our prayers and wishes go out to these young men and women. May they have a restful summer and may their future be faith-filled and successful. Caritas House of Prayer Activities (236-5877)
