Rules and Regulations Guide Overview What: A two day, overnight event in which medieval-style battles will take

place between opposing teams. This is an exciting event meant purely to be FUN. When: Where: Arrival Upon arrival, you MUST bring all equipment to the table designated Armor and Weapon Check. Here your equipment with be checked for anything which could cause harm, or which violates the guidelines for appropriate weapons and armor (see Weapons and Armor below). All equipment that fails these guidelines CANNOT be used during the event unless they are changed to fit the rules, and then checked again by us. After your equipment is checked, you may sign up for an Army if you have not already done so. To join an Army, you must approach the Armys Commander, who will be seated at a table on which there will be a sign-up sheet. You may NOT sign up for more than one army at a time. If you wish to be the Commander of your own Army, you must bring a table and the sign-up sheet provided on Page 5 to the event. Each Army can have a MAXIMUM of 25 Soldiers and 2 Healers, not including the Commander. After everyone has joined an Army, the Commander will direct his/her Army to the battlefield and set-up camp. Once all bases have been completed, the first Friday, July 13 at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 14 at 4:00 PM Brett Maguires House

battle will begin. This is the only scheduled battle, and on completion, you are free to proceed as you wish.

Game Play If during battle you are hit in the limb, it is disabled and CANNOT be used until a healer heals it by touching that limb (a limb can be healed anytime and is effective instantly). If hit anywhere other than your limbs (head, neck, body, etc.) you are killed. When killed you must drop to the ground and stop moving. The only way you can be revived is if your teammates drag/carry you back to base, and a healer revives you. Once revived, you can battle again. Only the blade/tip of a weapon can kill a person or disable a limb (sword edge, arrow tip, etc.) If you are hit in battle but you do not acknowledge the hit, you are cheating and will be banned from fighting. Healers need to keep one hand unoccupied at all times for healing purposes. Only one healer is allowed on the battlefield at a time. If a healer is killed or disabled in battle, they can heal themselves but cannot revive themselves. If you kill an opponent in battle, you may take one of their weapons and use it for yourself, but only if you have no weapon of your own. Also, you must return it after the battle. If you break an opponents weapon while using it for your own purpose, you are banned from fighting. Wearing armor does not provide extra protection, but it does look cool.

Weapons and Armor All weapons and armor CANNOT have any attributes which can wound an opponent or a teammate. All equipment has to have your name written on it to prevent confusion.

Weapons CANNOT be made out of heavy metal (ex. Lead pipes). Weapons CAN be made out of plastic, foam, wood, etc. The blade of the weapon has to be covered in a layer of protective foam to prevent injury during fighting. The easiest way to get a safe, affordable weapon is to buy a NERF SWORD/AXE/MACE from your local Wal-Mart or Target.

NERF GUNS are not allowed. Neither is FIRE BASED WEAPONRY TIM! Shields are allowed. For information on bows, see Bows below.

Bows If you wish to be an archer, you must follow a specific set of guidelines to make your actions safe for LARPATHON. 1. Compound bows and crossbows are NOT allowed, unless a NERF CROSSBOW is used. Only a youth longbow can be used which has draw strength of 20 POUNDS OR LESS. DO NOT AIM FOR THE HEAD! HEAD SHOTS WITH ARROWS DO NOT COUNT.

2.

Any arrows used have to have the tips/broad-heads removed and replaced with foam. The foam must be thick enough so that the tip of the arrow doesnt break through it and potentially injure people. I made my arrows with a 1 x 1 x 1 foam cube, which I then covered with duct tape.

3.

Remember that your eyes are one of the most vulnerable parts of your body, and although the arrow modifications shown are supposed to reduce the chance of injury, your eyes could still be hurt. Therefore, I suggest wearing proper eye protection to further reduce the chance of eye damage.

Final Words Drugs and Alcohol are strictly forbidden. Only guys can stay at LARPATHON for the overnight portion. Girls may return the next morning. If you have a tent, BRING IT! It will provide shelter during the night and make the camp look better. Also, TIKI torches, firewood, matches, lighter fluid, sleeping bags, and flashlights would be appropriate. Consider bringing lots of bottled water, and food for dinner and breakfast. Toilet paper, cell phones, and hand sanitizer would be a good idea too. Finally, this event is supposed to be FUN and ENJOYABLE, but remember that there are risks which could possibly occur if the rules are not followed. So remember to be safe, but more importantly
