Adopt-A-School Day

Adopt-A-School is a statewide grassroots effort to establish an annual day of awareness and service to Hawaii Schools. We invite everyone to join us in creating an even greater and bigger impact by getting involved with your local community by helping a school!

Planning Committees

The overall Adopt-A-School Day committee consist of various Jaycee members and interested community members. The overall committee is broken up into several key areas of the planning: Administrative Area, Community & Promotional Area, Fundraising & Sponsorship Area, and Events Area.

Events

The Adopt-A-School Day project holds 2 major events each year: Kick-Off Rally and Mahalo Party. Both the Kick-Off Rally and Mahalo Party recognizes groups who have committed to adopting a school(s) and performing a service project(s) on or about Adopt-ASchool Day. We also recognize our sponsors & supporters, and stakeholders in education.

Fundraisers & Sponsorship

Every year we seek both financial and in-kind support from companies to help us with a lot of our marketing and promotional events. In addition, we organize ongoing fundraising activities to help with some of the project planning costs, to include: car washes, curbside collecting, pizza nights, food ticket fundraisers, UH Manoa game booths.

Promotion

This year, we held several orientations to gather interested community individuals and groups together to learn about the project. We also made strong efforts to attend community events and meetings around the island to promote the project, including visits to neighborhood boards and involving the governmental leaders. As a committee we coordinated to have flyers posted around various locations, media outreach to newspapers, radio, and television.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Be a part of the process and make your commitment count. Adopt-A-School Day is a solely operated volunteer project, and every person can make a di erence. Adopt - A - School Day is a statewide grassroots e ort to establish an annual day of awareness and service to our Hawaii schools. Similar to Make A Di erence Day, AASD, works with organizations and schools to create ONE DAY were collaboration, vision, and service can make a di erence. Last year, we involved 95 groups to 119 needs. Service included beautifying campuses, implementing new school programs, o ering career skills training, providing donations, and improving daily maintenance care.
