Was all of the fire door open? (i.e. none were locked)
Science block, pad lock (roof access) apart from that they are all accessible. It takes 5-6 minutes to evacuate the school if the fire alarm goes off.
Can you find out how long it usually takes to evacuate the school?
What are the schools evacuation procedures, for example are pupils registered where do they line up?
To leave your bags and coats in the room, to make sure that all fire doors are shut, line up at the bottom play ground and line up in your tutors. Heads of house goes round and makes sure everyones there. Line up
in alphabetical order. Have there been any recorded fires in the school, if so what happened? The boys toilets, the toilet roll were set a light and then caught the most of the toilets on fire. Fire doors, fire blankets, fire alarms, fire extinguishers. (CO2 water, Foam proof)
Are the emergency services contacted automatically or does a member of staff need to phone the emergency services? Can you explain how an automatic fire safety system works?
No member of staff stays behind and calls the emergency services (reception). The fire alarm works by sensors, when your hand breaks the glass and then that sends a relay in the circuit and then that sets that alarm off. 1. No smoke detectors (sprinklers) 2. One member of staff has to stay in the building to call the emergency services. 3. Some windows are locked and also have no fire exits (Careers office and G4)
Did you find any fire safety hazards in the school, if so where they are and what do they consist of?
2. Use a mobile phone to direct the services to the building and some where safe. Overall how safe from a fire accident do you think the school is? VERY SAFE
