Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

22 June 2012

The fruit of the Spirit is . . . peace . . . (Ga 5:22). Islam comes from the root word salema, meaning peace and submission. Muslims hold that true peace is attained by submitting to God's willwhich is accomplished only by becoming a Muslim and serving Allah. Christians likewise believe that peace is found in submitting to Godwhich is accomplished only by placing one's faith in Jesus and being reconciled to God through Jesus' work on the Cross (Ro 5:1, Eph 4:14-18). Islam denies the sonship and redemptive work of Jesus. Please pray this week that the Lord will reveal himself to Muslims who seek true peace.

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

CAMEROON: A student who works with Gospel Recordings asks for prayer that this ministry will be still more effective in reaching Muslim areas with God's Word. As a pastor, he also notes the growing problem of Muslim young men seeking to marry Christian young ladies. Many in the churches remain unaware of or apathetic to this issue and its consequences. Please pray that the Lord will bless the efforts of this pastor and others to warn and train believers. WEST AFRICA: A West Africa-based church-planting ministry, Pioneers, is responding to the need to enter Muslim areas. Over the past year they have begun training pastors, church-planters, and laity, sending some to villages to live, work, and quietly witness. As they disciple new believers, they form rabbit churches, meeting in homes. Please pray that the Lord will guide these committed men and women and give them fruit.

In the News
NIGERIA: At least 50 people were killed in church attacks in Kaduna and Zaria this past Sunday. Boko Haram has claimed responsibility and declared, From now on, they either follow the right religion or there will be no peace for them. Please pray that the Lord will guide pastors and believers with His wisdom. Read more at http://edition.cnn.com/2012/06/18/world/africa/nigeria-church-bombings/index.html. MALI: Continue to pray for the situation in northern Mali, torn by Tuareg separatists and Islamist militants. Pray that the Lord will miraculously manifest himself in the lives of hurting, seeking people.

From Global Initiative*

Pray that God would continue to strengthen the underground Church in Iran. An AG church was recently shut down, but as a WAAST student noted, Persecution is fertilizer for church growth. Our God will keep the fire burning in the brethren and they will go tell others. The Spirit is not shut down. Amen! Pray for God to fill the hearts of Malaysian Muslims with a strong desire for progress and liberty, so that the present trend toward islamization might be reversed. For Muslim Women**

Pray for Muslim women in Malaysia who hunger and thirst for God but are watched closely and remain painfully hindered in their faith walks. Pray that those who work among them would receive divinely protected blocks of time with them, so that they can be led to Christ and discipled in His love.
