Arriving by train and local buses Salzburgs main railway station is just 20 minutes walk away from the old part of Salzburg. On the concourse in front of the station there are bus stops for the Stadtbus network. The bus routes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 go directly from the main train station to the centre of the city of Salzburg. Leave these buses at the stops at the Rathaus or FerdinandHanusch-Platz. Festungsgasse and the castle lift can be reached via Getreidegasse, Alten Markt, Residenzplatz, Domplatz and Kapitelplatz in around 5 minutes.

Untersberg

The Salzburg card entitles you to the fifty minute ride from the railway station to the base of Untersberg by bus no 25 from the railway station.The entire journey takes you through lovely countryside.Your ride in the cable car which otherwise cost 20 Euro is free for the salzburg card holders. Make sure you reach the base latest by 3 pm as 4.30 is the last cable car going up which comes down by 5pm.The journey in the cable car and the view from the top on a clear day is breathtaking.
