Issue: Spell check is not working.

Please follow the instruction giving to solve the issue “spell check not working”

Open Word 2007.


Click the Office icon in the top left corner of the window and then click the Word Options button.
In the Word Options dialog box, click the Language Settings button.
Finally, ensure that the correct language is selected in the Primary Editing Language drop-down
menu.
Now click on proofing tool, check all the options under “When correcting spelling and grammar in
word”.
In “Exception for “ column uncheck “hide spelling error” and “hide grammar error”

Now go to to Add-ins on the Word Options and click Disabled items in the manage drop-down
box.
Click “go” and check if spell check is disabled. Enable the spell checker and click ok.

Even after all the above steps, spell check is not working then alternate method left is to edit registry key.

The Proofing Tools information in the Windows registry is located in


"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0."

On the system whose spelling checker did not work, there existed a sub key named "Override" within the
"1.0" key. The known good systems did not have an "Override" sub key.

Two REG_SZ values in the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing


Tools\1.0\Override\en-US" key are available which pointed to files that were non-existent.

So to solve the problem, delete the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared


Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Override" registry key.

Note: Microsoft does not recommend registry edit. Microsoft is not responsible for any
inconvenience occur due to registry editing. You should edit at your own risk.
