Job Title: Network Engineer Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports to: Chief Technology Officer Dept.

/School: Corporate Position Summary: The Network Engineer will aid in creating an individualized education that challenges each student in keeping with the Districts mission. This hands-on position has technical responsibility and accountability for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Districts enterprise data, voice, and video communications networks. Responsibilities include planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network services and systems while ensuring minimal downtime. Troubleshoots and resolves complex network hardware, software, and connectivity problems. Provides level 2 and 3 production support on a 24x7 basis for all network equipment and communications circuits. Supports integrated ITIL processes with Incident, Change and Problem management. Develops plans to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring; maintains high service levels for the user community in accordance with SLAs. Ensures all network changes are well communicated, coordinated, and documented. Responsible for the security of the enterprise network. Ensures proper tools, procedures, and measures are in place and maintained to prevent unauthorized access and virus attacks on the network. Responsible for the planning , configuring, integrating, and supporting of all network hardware and software including all infrastructure connectivity, Internet services, VPN concentrators, routers, switches, firewalls, content filters, wireless devices, and IP voice systems. Utilizes software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify, diagnose and repair complex problems, outages, and/or factors affecting network performance. Coordinate with Internet Service Providers and telecommunications vendors regarding new installations, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting of T1, cable, DSL, DS3, and voice circuits and equipment. Manage all core IP services and protocols. Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, ACLs, and

DMZs.. Design and implement procedures to ensure that backup of all system configurations are performed on a regular basis. Assist with development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan. Performs project management duties as required related to network initiatives including requirements analysis and documentation, and task scheduling and execution. Plans and implements new network systems, applications, and hardware, including upgrades, maintenance fixes, and patches. Manages network growth and capacity planning. Responsible for the proper monitoring, tuning, optimization, and performance of all network systems and provides performance statistics and reports. Maintains up-todate documentation, including diagrams, on all network devices, services, and connectivity. Practices asset management and keeps updated component inventories and related documentation and technical specifications. Establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the teams knowledge of and concern for educational and business needs. Works with departments, superintendents, and campus personnel to define requirements and recommend appropriate network solutions. Be customer service oriented and maintain a professional approach regarding all district matters. Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures. Perform R&D and remain knowledgeable of emerging trends in technology and keep abreast of innovative practices. Attain and keep current relevant technology certifications. Perform special projects, after-hours support and upgrades, and other duties as assigned. Travel as required.
