Product Information Description The TMS320C6455 DSP Starter Kit (DSK) developed jointly with Spectrum Digital is a low-cost development platform designed to speed the development of high performance applications based on TIs TMS320C64x+ DSP generation. The DSK is now available with the industries highest performing single core DSP running at 1.26Hz. TMS320C6455 DSP starter kit (DSK) features a Serial RapidIO (sRIO) bus interface offering a complete, easy-to-use multiprocessor C6455 DSP development system with sRIO communications connectivity to third party tools, FGPAs, sRIO switches and sRIO equipped embedded processors. The kit uses USB communications for true plug-and-play functionality. Both experienced and novice designers can get started immediately with innovative product designs with the DSKs full featured Code Composer Studio IDE and eXpressDSP Software which includes DSP/BIOS and Reference Frameworks. The C6455 Code Composer Studio DSK tools includes the C6000 Tuning Dashboard giving developers access to the CacheTune and CodeSizeTune Analysis tools, plus Compiler Consultant and Multi-Event Profiler. The Tuning suite of tools help developers improve the performance of their application by optimizing cache usage and choosing the best compiler optimization switches to meet the size and performance goals of the end application with graphical tooling and proactive advice. The C6455 DSK allows you to download and step through code quickly and uses Real Time Data Exchange (RTDX) for improved Host and Target communications. The DSK utilities include Flashburn to program flash, utilities and software and a power on self test and diagnostic utility to ensure the DSK is operating correctly.

Features The DSK features the TMS320C6455 DSP, a 1.2 GHz device delivering up to 8000 million instructions per second (MIPs) and is designed for products that require the highest performing DSPs. The C6455 is based on the high performing TMS320C64x+ DSP platform designed to needs of high-performing memory intensive applications such as networking, video, imaging, and most multi-channel systems. Other hardware features of the TMS320C6455 DSK board include: Embedded XDS510-class JTAG support via USB 128MB Memory and 8MB Flash EMIF(32bit data) & McBSP0 to Connector 1 HPI/PCI to Connector 2 High-quality 24-bit stereo codec Expansion port connector for plug-in modules On-board standard 14-pin IEEE JTAG interface On-board 60-pin high density JTAG interface +5V universal power supply Software Designers can readily target the TMS32C6455 DSP through TIs robust and comprehensive Code Composer Studio DSK development platform. The tools, which run on Windows 2000 and Windows XP, allow developers to seamlessly manage projects of any complexity. Code Composer Studio features for the TMS320C6455 DSK include: Efficient optimizing C/C++ compiler assembler, linker Integrated debugger Data visualization tools Profiler and advanced optimization tools and tuning tools Flexible project manager DSP/BIOS real-time kernel Target error recovery software DSK diagnostic tool Board Support Library (BSL) Board Support Library The Board Support Library (BSL) provides a C-language interface for configuring and controlling all on-board devices. The library consists of discrete modules that are built and archived into a library file. Each module represents an individual application program interface (API) and is referred to simply as an API module. The module granularity is structured so each device is implemented in an individual API module. The goal of the BSL is to provide a level of hardware abstraction and software standardization that improves development time and portability. The BSL source code is available in the lib directory along with the library itself. You may extend or modify the source code and build your own version of the library. You can also include the BSL source files directly into your application for greater control. Example code with full source for: Power On Self Test POST This is typically already programmed into flash memory on the board, so it runs on boot. Sample application LED Blink Example (2 versions) blinks LED #0 using BSL calls Sample application for AIC23 codec Uses BSL to generate a 1KHz sine wave
