Improved Audio Quality

Sonys DWX digital wireless offers superb audio quality (24 bit 48 KHz digital audio) A majority of high-end vocal performance wireless microphone systems in use today rely on the use of conventional analog transmission technology called FM Modulation. These analog wireless systems offer sound characteristics similar the sound of FM radio. The sound quality of analog wireless has somewhat improved over the years by adding a sound processing technique called a compander. The use of the compander has improved audio dynamic range performance in analog wireless systems; however, further improvements in sound quality arent likely. For vocal performance, the use of analog wireless compromises sound quality and it is difficult to fully reproduce all of the subtle nuances of a vocal performance using analog wireless. The use of Sony digital wireless overcomes this limitation by eliminating the use of a compander system and by providing high quality digital sound. Capturing live performances for the purpose of distributing high quality audio and video musical performances often requires extra efforts applied (during audio post production) to correct deficiencies caused by the use of analog wireless microphones. Occasionally, vocals recorded during live performance need to be replaced (by overdubbing vocals in a studio afterwards) to improve sound quality. When this occurs, correcting sound quality problems can be costly and time consuming. Using Sonys digital wireless greatly reduces the need to overdub vocals in studio afterwards. Sony offers two choices of DWX high-quality handheld microphones (Dynamic and Condenser)

Both microphones offer extremely directional characteristics, reducing the potential for audio feedback occurring when stage monitors are used during live performance. The choice of both dynamic and condenser microphones allows the vocalist to select the microphone that best suits their vocal style.

DWX Operational Benefits

Transmitter allows entering an alphanumeric name that is displayed on both the TX and RX

Especially useful in large multichannel systems, transmitter naming allows quick identification of each wireless microphone. Each handheld microphone/transmitter contains a USB port that allows connection of a standard USB keyboard (during system set-up) for entering each transmitters name. The TX name is permanently stored in each TX and this transmitter name is transmitted (along with digital audio) as metadata. Unique encryption feature supports ultra-secure transmission

Enabling encryption insures audio signal wont be intercepted and used for unauthorized purposes. Easy-to-see OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) displays

Each receiver includes large independent OLED displays and controls for managing two channel wireless microphones. Each handheld microphone also includes an internal OLED (hidden) display that can be accessed by unscrewing the body of the handheld microphone for changing TX menu settings. Receiver includes clear channel scan allowing quick scanning to locate a free frequency

Fast and simple scanning allows finding an unoccupied RF frequency and the option to change the system (RX and TX) to operate on the newly found frequency very quickly. If the wireless system experiences interference during use, activating clear channel scan and selecting a new frequency can be completed quickly. This function can be operated from the receiver front panel or from the PC remote control software (remotely). Innovative wireless remote control of the transmitter from the receiver

Menu settings on each handheld microphone/transmitter can be remotely adjusted without having to access the handheld microphone. This means that audio attenuator level, low cut filter can be adjusted remotely and system RF frequency selection can be changed without accessing the transmitter. PC Control Software

Each receiver contains an Ethernet port that can be connected with a network switch to support networked monitoring and control functions. In this case, all transmitter and receiver settings can be remotely monitored and controlled by the PC software. Multiple PCs running the supplied application can be connected to the remote control network allowing control of system settings from multiple PCs.
