Family Day: Bright Lights, Big City


Date: July 7, 2012 Time: 1:00pm Location: Smart Museum of Art, 5550 South Greenwood Avenue, Chicago, IL Drop by and join in the family activities at the Smart on the first Saturday of the month! This Saturday, learn to create pastel paintings inspired by the Museums collection and landscape and portraits. Find out how to use light and dark colors to create works of art that evoke brightness and shadow. All ages welcome. Activities are designed for children 4-12. The Power of One Fair & Food Drive

El Valor/NLU MBA Information Session-Little Village (COHORT #9)

Kildare, Chicago, IL The El Valor/National Louis University partnership for the Masters in Business Administration is part of our Leadership through Education program which has one of its goals to increase the number of qualified, culturally and linguistically skilled personnel in positions of leadership, especially individuals who can identify with the Latino and other traditionally underrepresented communities. Community Resources
RSOC Job Readiness Training Seminar provides an Employment Readiness Training Course that is intensive training class. It emphasizes the necessary skills and proper attitudes needed to obtain employment. Students learn how to follow instructions, accept criticism, undertake group efforts, dress and speak appropriately for the workplace, conduct successful job searches with the guidance of our job developers. This is a 5 week course. Jewish Vocational Service will be providing free Home Health Aide Training & Job Placement Assistance. The next class will be starting on July 9. Intake will be held at Westside Holistic Family Services (4909 W. Division St., Chicago, IL). Candidates must be 18 years old. There will be a criminal background check. Mandatory reading and math assessment will be conducted. All clients must bring their social security card, birth certificate, Drivers License/State ID, high school diploma/GED and proof of income (SNAP, TANF, 2151, 403 MANG clients are eligible). Maryville Crisis Nursery hosts a Baby Talk Class for parents and children 3 years and under. Come play, share and have questions answered. Family Nights
Family Night at Southside YMCA is open and free to all South Side and Wabash members, their guests and the community. Join them in the pool, catch a healthy lifestyle workshop or demonstration and/or challenge each other in a game of checkers or monopoly or in a game of basketball. Dates are: June 15, July 20 and August 17. Time: 7pm-9pm.

Museum Free Days


Kraft Free Family Night at Chicago Childrens Museum is every Thursday. Groups of 15 or more must book ahead. Have a group of 35 people or more? Free Transportation is available for 501(c)3 non-profit community-based organizations serving low-income families.
