STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

When I was a little boy in my home town in India- having fun by solving interesting puzzles, I wouldnt imagine that 10 years later, I could pursue my bachelors degree from the prestigious Osmania University. Since my childhood, I have been always eager to learn about new topics. This keen interest, when combined with my inner desire to reach a degree of excellence in every piece of work I do, enabled me to acquire significant knowledge on various aspects of life, as well as led me through a successful career so far. An unexpected entry into the field of science started the real journey in my life. I was introduced to its deeper aspects in 11th and 12th standards which have sown the seeds of thought in me. And education is what has been nourishing these seeds which keep growing like the everlasting banyan tree. I was first exposed to the field of science during my schooling later in high school stage my aptitude for these subjects biology and chemistry urged me to think about a career in the sciences. My undergraduate studies were the most pivotal period of my life, it was at this stage where I decided to specialize in Chemistry. And in this ever changing world, where each day sees a spate of new concepts and emerging trends, I would like to stay on the fast track. Having realized that chemistry is a challenging field that has the potential to answer the crucial needs of contemporary world, I firmly decided to further my education with a bachelors degree in pharmacy and further in Chemistry after graduation. Four years of my graduate study gave me the opportunity to explore a large array of fields in pharmacy. I was provided excellent guidance from experienced and qualified lecturers in various courses, which included Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology and Health Education, Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy. I read many pharma journals which updated me with the recent advances and achievements in the field. After attending seminars and lectures by eminent professors at various colleges, my fascinations grew stronger. I presented papers at conferences like Akshara-2008 (paper on Regulatory affairs & Clinical trials) in which I won 1st prize, Pharma Fair-2008 (Poster on Pharmacogenomics) in which I won 2nd prize and Herbo-R&D-2008 (Paper on Pharmacogenomics). I also had the privilege of attending an Industrial Training Program at a leading pharmaceutical company during the 5th semester which helped me gain significant knowledge about the various departments of an industry which I wasnt exposed to before and I learned to abide the rules and regulations of the industry. In my endless journey of nourishing the seeds within, I have planned to specialize in the area of Chemistry. Through the experience of the students who have already made it to the U.S. from India and from books, I have come to know that the standard of education and the ambience of studying in USA are exceptional.

The universities suit my academic interests because of their advanced academic curriculum and world-class research groups. It is the best environment for me to achieve my goals while gaining experience and exposure to a diverse student body and faculty. My earnest desire to continue my further studies at Western Illinois University stems from the fact that it is one of the best universities in USA having a long time record of academic excellence and is backed by expert faculty and very good ambience. I believe that my fascination for studies, accolades and strong undergraduate pursuits would be beneficial for the Masters Program. I would regard my admission not only as an honor but also as a great responsibility and challenge to prove myself. I hope you find my purpose definitive and I fit into the image of a promising student. I look forward to prove myself.
