In Sifted (David C. Cook), Rick Lawrence explores Luke 22:31-32, Jesus words to Simon Peter during the Last Supper. Jesus warns Peter that Satan has asked to sift you as wheat but assures him, I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail (NIV). Sifting, Lawrence notes, is a three-step process: beat, separate, reveal. The essential eect of sifting is a violent separation followed by a beautiful revelation, he writes. Sifting shakes us apart for the purpose of destroying our complacent wholeness and revealing what is valuable and permanent and needed. Satan, intent on destroying us through trials, doesnt realize that God can use what was intended as evil for good (Genesis 50:20) and that nothing can separate us from Gods love (Romans 8:38-39). Turning ugly into beauty is not a mere commentary on what God does, Lawrence writes. It is an explanation of his genius and a summation of his redemptive strategies in our lives.

Flea Market - Thank you

Thanks to all those who supported the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Flea Market in June. It was a huge success for both MOPs and the JUMC Childrens' Ministry and we appreciate those who donated items, rented tables and came out to shop.

Want to be the best mom possible?

You are not alone! MOPS might be just the thing for you. Every mom is welcomed, accepted and inspired to reach her potential and recognize her influence and purpose within her family - and also that she is part of God's bigger purpose and plan. Moms really do make a better world! We are hosting a Summer Playdate on Thurs., July 19th from 9:3011:00am at the JUMC playground. We will provide bubbles and snacks for the kids. All mothers and children are welcome. Please RSVP to Tara Garrison at bacione@wsucougars.com or #215.885.5275.

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity?

Help babysit the children while the moms attend the meeting. This service requires only two hours of your time per month. You will be so appreciated by the MOPS members. Please contact Jean Graber at jumckids@comcast.net or #215.646.4129.
