PREFACE In this globalization era, Indonesia needs qualified human resources that can compete with human resources from other country. Since our industries activities become more complex and competitive than before, students are encouraged to be aware to the alterations happen for becoming an excellent human resource. One way to improve the human resources quality is through education. University as the highest educational institution in Indonesia has responsibility to give good education so that the students who graduate from university already compete with others qualified human resources. However, the capabilities improvement itself is not enough if it does not combine with the interpersonal skills improvement through practical experiences. Based on the need of human resources quality improvement, Faculty of Engineering University of Indonesia has also considered the way to prepare their students through an internship program. The internship program is a preparation before entering the real working condition so that they have an experience how to face all the problems and can learn to apply the knowledge they have got. PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk. is a State Owned Enterprise (SOE) and the largest telecommunication and network services provider in Indonesia and has been in Indonesia since long time ago. Another thing that attracted me to perform Internship in PT Telkom is transfer of knowledge program which is a policy goal company as a follow-up of the policy desired by the Indonesian government. Obviously, more specific for us, is Link & Match between industry and higher education.

BASIC THINKING Basic thinking of the implementation of this Internship includes the following: 1. The importance of understanding and experience in the real world of application of the disciplines that have been learned in college. 2. Implementation of work practices is a graduation requirement phase for undergraduate students. 3. Importance of socializing in public life. Internship is one way of learning to socialize in heterogeneous environment.

III.

OBJECTIVES A. For Students 1. Completing the requirement needed in Electrical Engineering Department, University of Indonesia. 2. Learning about system, technologies, management, and the use of resources at PT. Telkom Indonesia 3. Learning about new concept that is implemented at PT. Telkom Indonesia to improve efficiency and effectiveness. 4. Learning network operating systems applied by PT. Telkom Indonesia 5. Knowing more about PT. Telkom Indonesia 6. To understand and get use to the working environment. 7. Applying the knowledge, trying to analyze and solve the problems in the real working condition. 8. Learning devices that are used to support the production process in a factory, and how to manage it. 9. To get a chance to observe, compare, and applied theories from University in the real condition in industry.

B. For Companies 1. Obtain input from participants in solving problems faced by the company according to scientific field of Electrical Engineering that is owned by the students. 2. As one means of consideration for the company in terms of quality of student assessment which in turn related to the recruitment of new fresh graduate. 3. Giving best solution to the problems that existing in the company. IV. BENEFIT A. For students: 1. Increasing knowledge through practice in the field. 2. Obtaining skills directly during industrial work practice. 3. Providing an experience in applying courses particularly Computer Network that have been taught in Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Indonesia. B. For Companies 1. Participating in the process of education in Indonesia 2. The results of analysis and research conducted during the practical work can be an input for the company to determine the company's policy in the future. V. SCOPE The scope of problems that will be proposed and discussed in the internship program at PT. Telkom Indonesia is in the Network Operating Systems, IPv6, IP TV (Groovia) and Multimedia. But we dont mind if any projects or subject related that company give to us.

VIII. RESEARCH METHOD Researching methods used are: 1. Identify the problem In this step, problems are identified according to the relevance topic in PT. Telkom 2. Collect the data Find and collect the data: Find the data in the field Find the literature that related Doing interview with the worker 3. CLOSING This Proposal was made as an additional consideration on my application in order to take part in an internship program in PT. Telkom Indonesia.
