Dear neighbour, Re: Changes to working hours at Greenwich Park You may know that we recently received consent for a change in our working hours within Queens Field due to delays in our work caused by the unusually heavy rainfall in April and May. At this time, we wrote to residents living in areas most affected by the change. As a further consequence of the exceptional nature of the recent weather, we have now found it necessary to apply to the Royal Borough of Greenwich to extend our working hours within the other areas of the Park that are being used for London 2012 Games operations. It is important to note that this does not mean that we will be moving in to other areas of the Park ahead of the publicised schedule. Access to the Park will also be maintained as advertised. In agreeing to our request, the Borough has set extra conditions which limit what we can do and to make sure that we only make noise which is barely audible away from our work area. The Royal Boroughs Environmental Health Officers have given us consent to undertake the following in the extended hours period:

Manual erection of scaffolding, seats and section ramps for construction of the stands. Manual connection of pipe work and technology cables. Levelling of the training and stable area platforms. Manual erection of overlay structures and internal works. Manual erection of cable ramps and bridges. Manual erection of stables. Manual end-of-day tidying up of site.

This work will use:

A roller and other work vehicles. Forklift and Tele-handler for moving material around the site. Crane for installing lifts and overlay structures. Delivery vehicles within the extended delivery windows only.

In addition, we have agreed with the Royal Boroughs officers that during the extended hours period: no dismantling of scaffolding will take place (this is significantly nosier than erecting scaffolding) additional supervision of the work and workforce will be in place works will halt temporarily at 6pm each weekday in all areas and the entire workforce will be reminded of the rules regarding quiet working in the evening the workforce and contractors will also be reminded of the rules of quiet working at the beginning of each Saturday and Sunday as far as is reasonably practicable, works in the areas nearest residents will be limited during extended hours The new hours will now be: 27 June to 6 July 2012 8am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm Saturday 9am to 5pm Sunday Deliveries 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm Saturday None on Sundays 7 July to 23 July 2012 8am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm Saturday 9am to 5pm Sunday Deliveries 7.30am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday You will know that the Royal Borough of Greenwich set noise limits that we have to work within to reduce or prevent disturbance to residents. We will continue to work within these limits at all times. We monitor the noise levels 24 hours a day so that we can adjust working practices where necessary. Best Practicable Means, as defined in Section 72 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974, will be employed at all times to minimise noise from the works. In addition we will follow Transport for Londons Code of Practice for quieter deliveries at all times. We apologise for any additional inconvenience this may cause you and would like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding. For more information, or to report a problem, please call: 08000 722 110. Yours faithfully,

The London 2012 Greenwich Park team
