Baptisms:
Parents need to be registered, active parishioners prior to arranging a Baptism at St. Cyrils. If this is a firstborn child, the parents are required to attend a Pre-Baptismal Preparation Class. Both sponsors should be adults and one an active, practicing Catholic.

Sacrament of Reconciliation:
Saturday: 4:30 - 5:00 PM First Fridays: 5:00 - 6:30 PM Also available by appointment.

Marriage:
The bride or groom must be a registered, active parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius for a minimum of six months before scheduling a wedding date. Arrangements are to be made with the priest at least six months before the wedding. A Marriage Preparation Program is a requirement of the Archdiocese. To schedule a wedding, please contact the rectory office. Due to renovations to the interior of our church, wedding reservations during the months of June, July, and August of 2012 are not being scheduled at St. Cyrils. Our priests and staff are working closely with our neighboring parishes, St. Alphonsus and St. Patrick, to accommodate our parishioners. For more information and assistance, please call the rectory.

We would be nothing without you! That is the honest truth. Notice an empty church in the picture? No cross? No statues? No candles? No piano or organ? No people praying? Where did everything go? The picture indicates that the renovation for the interior of our church started the beginning of June. Our church has been emptied out so that construction work and painting can happen during the summer. We have relocated all of our Masses and other prayer services temporarily to the gym. This is an exciting time for our parish as we restore the beauty of our historic church. It will be an even more wonderful place to pray when completed in the fall. Without your help, we could not make any of these improvements. St. Cyril's relies heavily on the generosity and support of its parishioners. I hope at this time you can help our parish by making a financial commitment to our capital campaign, entitled "Our Faith, Our Gift, Our Home." We have entered the second year of the capital campaign and we are still striving to reach our overall goal of $1 million. Our capital campaign has gotten off to a good start, but at this time, St. Cyril's needs your help as we approach this phase of the work. I know that St. Cyril's has played a role in your spiritual life. It is my hope that together we can proudly complete the good work that has already begun. Know that you and your family are in my prayers. May God's blessings be upon us in the days to come.

Mam nadziej , e dalej jeste cie w stanie aby wspiera nasz parafi finansowo poprzez kampani Nasza Wiara, Nasz Dar, Nasz Dom. Wa nie mijaj dwa lata odk d rozpocz li my t kampani i w ktrej nadal d ymy do uzbierania kwoty 1 miliona dolarw. Nasza kampania rozpocz a si doskonale i udao nam si uzbiera ponad 2/3 podanej sumy, aczkolwiek nadchodzi etap pracy w ktrej wasza pomoc jest nam najbardziej potrzebna. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS

Religious Education Registration Information for the 2012/2013 school year: Families already enrolled in the Religious Education Program registrations were due by Friday, June 15th. Any returning family who did not turn in their registration by this date must now pay an increase in tuition of $50. The tuition prices increased as of June 15th. Any new families wishing to register for Religious Education classes can do so NOW. Registration materials can be found in the back of church now or online at www.stcyril.org and then click on Religious Education and you will find the forms. For your information the following are requirements for the religious education program: 1. You must be a registered supporting parishioner to have a child in the religious education program. If you are not currently a registered parishioner and are planning on enrolling a student for the Fall please take care of registering for the parish now so it does not hold up your registration. 2. In order for your child to make their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in second grade they must complete first grade. 3. In order for your child to make their Confirmation in 8th grade they must complete grades 3 7. 4. If you are transferring from another religious education program I must have a transfer form from your old parish stating what grades your child has completed. 5. Everest Academy, Bobbie Noonan, Kingswood Academy, home schooled students and anyone else who attend a non-archdiocesan school who wish to make their First Holy Communion or Confirmation at St. Cyrils are required to register for the Religious Education Program for the second and eighth grade years. If you are a new family and you have any questions please feel free to call my office at 630-257-9314.

We are still accepting new students for the 2012/2013 school year. Please call the office at 630-257-6488, ext. 19 if you are interested in receiving information and a guided tour. Dont forget...we will also be offering both a 3 and 4 year old preschool program in the fall! Religious Education Volunteers Needed The Religious Education Program is in need of volunteers for the 2012/2013 school year. Catechists need to be 18 years old and catechist aides must be in high school. All adult volunteers must go through a background check and attend the Protecting Gods Children Workshop over the summer. The following positions are open: Monday Session: 5:30 until 7:00 pm Catechist for 3rd grade Catechist Aide for 6th grade Crossing Guard Wednesday Session: 5:30 until 7:00 pm Catechist for 2nd and 5th grade Catechist Aide for 5th and 6th grade If you are interested in sharing your faith with the young people of our parish and would like to volunteer for the Religious Education Program, please give Trish a call at (630) 257-9314. Training for Catechists is available through the Archdiocese of Chicago. All catechists are given a step-by-step teachers manual and each class has a maximum of 20 students with a teachers aide. Catechist aides will have a training session before classes start. Classes now closed are as follows: Sunday: 8th grade Monday: 3rd & 4th grades

Faithful Citizenship
The issues are many and varied. And there are issues that are not explicitly on the ballot, but all the moral teachings of the Catholic Church should figure into the political landscape. For example, Human Trafficking is a national and international issue but it does not appear to be on the ballot. Many other topics of justice are not on ballots either. Are the various candidates speaking on the topic at all? Should they be? Should the issue be raised in the public square? If it is not how could it be brought to public attention? All of this is important to Catholics and to the Catholic Church. The issues that will be presented in this column between now and Election Day will be all the issues of our time whether they are in the public square or not.

We are interested in meeting the families of our parish whose child with developmental and intellectual challenges, autism spectrum disorders and learning problems, no matter their age or level of ability could be welcomed. Parents and interested men and women who are looking for a ministry to become involved in are invited to join Guadalupe at a SPRED Informational Gathering on Monday, July 9th at 6:30 PM in our rectory. SPRED is an unique program unlike any you have known before. It is not a teaching program like religious education. We look at our life experiences and become more aware of Gods life in us. Hopefully the Spirit will call you to this work.

Thursday, July 12th from 11 AM to 3 PM Beginning July 13th, the Mass book will be available in the rectory to book Masses. Non-parishioners may book intentions starting July 30th. To accommodate all SS. Cyril & Methodius parish families, we allow three (3) weekend Mass intentions (Saturday 5:30 PM and Sunday) per family per year. Due to space constraints, intention text may be limited. Prior to booking Masses, please complete a Mass Intention Form which is available in the back of church in the gym, at the parish rectory or on our parish website at www.stcyril.org. The Mass offering fee is $10.00.

Fr. Janusz Horowski SVD and Deacon Ivan Lazcano of the Divine Word Missionaries will be with us on July 14th & 15th. Fr. Janusz and Deacon Ivan will speak about the work of Divine Word Missionaries in India. Fr. Janusz was a missionary in Brazil for many years and he also worked with the poor and needy in Mexico. Fr. Janusz currently assists at several Polish parishes besides working in the Provincial headquarters for the Divine Word Missionaries as Director Development. Deacon Ivan has served as a missionary in Guatemala, Bolivia, Mexico and the Chicago area. Deacon Ivan divides his time between the Divine Word Mission office in Techny, preaching, directing retreats and ministering at parishes. Please welcome Fr. Janusz and Deacon Ivan. This Mission Appeal is part of the Mission Coop Program of the Archdiocese. Please be generous in the second collection to help support the missionary work of the Divine Word Missionaries. Their missionaries serve in some of the most difficult areas of our world.
