School of Management, Sambhram Group of Institutions:


The School of Management runs MBA Program attached to Sambhram Academy of Management Studies (NAAC accredited) since 1999 and MBA Program of Visvesvaraya Technological University since 2006 attached to Sambhram Institute of Technology. It has been rated as one of the best B- Schools in South India by Dalal Street BSchool Survey, 2011. It has also been rated A+ by Business India B-School Survey, 2011. The School is a member of AMDISA and APQN, accreditation by AMDISA is in progress and has collaboration with Geneva Business School, Switzerland. The Sambhram Group of Institutions was established by a team of experts from industry and academia in the year 1999 led by the founder Chairman Sri. R. Venkatesh. With commendable dedication, determination, optimistic and indomitable courage, the Managing Committee members have pledged to shape the Group to a gigantic position in the near future. The courses run by the Sambhram Group include Management, Engineering, Dental, Nursing, Hotel Management, PUC, Degree Colleges and Schools at Bangalore, KGF and Chittor in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Bangalore Management Association:


The Bangalore Management Association (BMA) is a pioneer of the management movement in India. Established in 1953, it was launched as a professional body to study and promote scientific management. As an independent, nonprofit institution, BMA provides a wide range of services aimed at enhancing managerial effectiveness. These include promotion and development of sound management practices suiting Indian conditions and to stimulate management thinking leading to excellence. The objectives of BMA are achieved through organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, training programs, lectures, discussion meetings and research projects.

Abstract of the FDP:


Business complexities in Indian scenario are on rise and research methodology comes to its rescue in addressing the problems in a scientific way. Hence is the necessity for qualitative and quantitative data analysis using contemporary statistical techniques to conduct management research for better decision making and knowledge exploration. SPSS has been a tool popularly used in last few decades by management researchers. Topics to be covered in the workshop include: basic data analysis techniques in management research including test of significance, Bivariate Tests, T Tests, Anova, Correlation, Chi-Square, Z-Test, Simple Regression, Correlation, Multivariate Analysis, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Correspondence Analysis.

Main Objectives of the Workshop:

To make participants familiar with techniques used and different approaches in management research. To develop understanding of research methodology in management with reference to quantitative and qualitative techniques. To apply right tools and techniques for data analysis. To make hands-on use of statistical software, SPSS, and experience statistical analysis in action.

The program would benefit Faculty of B-Schools, research scholars pursuing M. Phil. /Ph. D in Management, Corporate Researchers, MBA students who need to use SPSS for their project work, practitioners working in KPOs and Market Research Companies.

Fee & Registration :


A fee of Rs. 2000/- per participant for Faculty, Researcher Rs 1500/- per head and Rs 3000/- per participant for Corporate/Industry researcher is to be paid by cheque drawn in favor of Bangalore Management Association payable at Bangalore. The registration fee includes program cost, lunch and snacks and certificate. Registration can be made by phone/fax/email but will be confirmed upon receipt of participation fee. Seating is limited, this being a hands-on program in computing lab registrations would be on first-come-first serve basis. Outstation participants can make their own stay arrangements at Bangalore or can call up Mr. Jay Kumar@07829771415 for their stay at Sambharam Roost which is just 1Km away from the venue. Single/Double occupancy room with all facilities are available at Rs.2000/day.

1. Dr.Subbiah, Assistant Professor, L N Govt College, Chennai, Ph.D in MathematicsStatistics Interdisciplinary (Bayesian inference on sparseness in 2 x 2 contingency tables and its applications) from University of Madras. Authored a book titled Probability and Random Process. Principal Statistical Consultant, Regional Computing Consultancy, Chennai.

2. Mr.Shankar MM, MBA from Madras University has 12 years of experience in


education, industry and consultancy, trained more than 5000 participants in research methodology and statistical packages, such as, SPSS, SYSTAT, SAS, AMOS and Eview. Currently associated with PESIT as Manager, Research and Training has published 6 articles in referred journals and assisted more than 50 Ph.D.s in data analysis across social science and management.

3. Dr.Parthasarathy R, Associate Professor, Management Studies, Indian Institute of


Science. B.E. (Mechanical Engineering), University of Madras, M.S. (Mechanical Engineering), Oklahoma State University, Ph.D. (Industrial Engineering), OKlahoma State University. Research Interests: Demand Management of scarce resources, Revenue management, Discrete optimization.
