Company Policy Annual Leave

Holiday year
Your holiday year starts from the date you join the company. You will start a new holiday year on each anniversary of your joining date.

Holiday entitlement
Upon joining State of Flux you are entitled to 25 days holiday in addition to the 8 public holidays that are currently observed in the UK (all leave entitlements will be pro-rated for part time employees). When you stay with the company you accrue more holiday entitlement as follows: 2 additional days leave following 2 years continuous service 3 additional days leave following 3 years continuous service 4 additional days leave following 4 years continuous service 5 additional days leave following 5 years continuous service

For example: You join State of Flux on 1 April 2010. From 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011 you can take 25 days holiday. On 1 April 2011 you start a new holiday year and again can take 25 days holiday from 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012. On 1 April 2012 you will have been with State of Flux for 2 years so from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013 you can take 27 days holiday.

Booking holiday
Holiday dates must be agreed in advance with your manager. Approved holiday forms must be given to HR. You can request holiday using the paper Annual leave request form or the email version. Both can be found on SharePoint in the folder named forms on the homepage. To help State of Flux manage its resource levels we ask you to give advance notice as follows: up to 5 consecutive working days requires a minimum of 3 weeks notice more than 5 consecutive working days requires a minimum of 6 weeks notice

We also ask that holidays be limited to a maximum of 10 consecutive days. We do however recognise that sometimes there may be reasons you need to take longer than this. In these circumstances you need to explain to your manager why you are requesting more than 10 days, and if they approve your request it then also needs approval from your PDP family head.

Unused holiday
We recommend you always take all of your holiday days. If however for some reason you have not been able to then you can carry over up to 5 days into your next holiday year. For example: You join State of Flux on 1 April 2010 and are entitled to take 25 days holiday by 31 March 2011 but by the 31 March 2011 you have only taken 23 days. From 1 April 2011 your holiday year starts again and you are entitled to 25 days holiday plus the 2 days you didnt take the previous year. You can therefore take 27 days holiday from 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012.

Leaving the company

If you leave State of Flux you will be paid for any holiday days you have accrued and not taken. If you have taken holidays in excess of the number of days accrued at the time you leave then the company reserves the right to deduct the appropriate sum from your final salary.

Updated 14 April 2011 State of Flux reserves the right to amend this and its other policy and procedures at its discretion.
