Grace and Peace in the name of Jesus, The sun is shining and the heat is here. Summer is upon us and the smells of BBQ's permeates the air around us. With all the excitement and joy that comes with summer however, my heart is heavy. Many of you have probably read and or seen on television the interviews and quite possibly the taunting and bullying of the bus monitor Karen Klein. The events that took place, and unfortunately have probably been taking place for quite some time, bring to the forefront the sad reality of what many people face on a daily basis. Many questions have been raised as to where have we gone wrong? What is this world coming to that young teenagers would act this way towards someone, much less an adult? We might not be able to answer the big questions easily. One thing that this does is to allow the church to see the great need for evangelism and love in the world but more importantly the great need in our own communities. The immediate reaction from people all over the world has been rather amazing. Over half a million dollars has been raised thus far to send Karen on a vacation, an attempt to correct the problem the best way people know how......monetarily. What would Jesus do in a time such as this? Were we created and called for a time such as this? Now is the time for the church to stand together as a single body with Christ leading the way. Now is the time for the church to reach into the bowels of the communities that they reside and pour out the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Now is the time for you to act. You might not know Karen Klein, but I am sure you know someone whom the world has mistreated or marginalized. Maybe you are that someone. Jesus Christ came that we might have life and life to the full, His purpose and mission were to bring grace and truth to all that they might be set free from the yokes of slavery and bondage to sin. That we might live in harmony and love with one another. As the church we have a responsibility to share that truth with others. To stand bold in our approach to the culture around us, to love on our children and our spouses. To maintain the commitments that we have made, so that others will come to know Jesus Christ through our testimony. What can we do? We can love on all persons at all times. We can share grace with others to the measure we would like our heavenly father to share with us. We can be neighborly, even when we don't want to. We can be humble at all times walking hand in hand with our God. We can be men and women of integrity who take their relationship with Jesus Christ very seriously. Living out the gospel at all times in all places. Our hope in all of this is that God will make good out of the evil around us, because He is not bound by it. My prayer for each of you is that the grace of Jesus Christ would overwhelm you so much, and that the kingdom of God would fill you so full that you go and impact the world around you. Be the drink offering that has been poured out for you to someone else! Grace and Peace, Pastor Joe I am always open to dialogue about anything that might touch your hearts.....my email is pastorjoe@littlevalleyumc.org

Altar Flowers
Dont forget to contact Harriet ahead of time if youd like to do flowers for the altar on any given week. There are only a few people signed up at this time. If you arent on the altar guild list for taking care of the altar but would like to help by having flowers on Sunday morning in memory or dedicated to someone special, then you may take them to that person after church. This is a small way you can help to beautify our altar on Sunday morning, help out the committee and have a lovely gift all at the same time. Please consider doing this. ACOLYTE TRAINING We will be having an ice cream sundae time and refresher training session for all current acolytes as well as new training for those interested in becoming an acolyte. You must be in 2nd grade up to youth group age. We are planning on doing this on Saturday morning, July 28 at 10:00am as a couple of parents indicated to be a good time for them to have their children attend. We are asking all current and new acolytes to participate in this. Parents, please contact Bobbie Jo Ormond if your children would like to remain or become an acolyte so we can know how many to plan on.
